Question Does your Hav get bored with the same old food?

Are you supposed to"change it up a bit?"
Duncan has been eating Merrick dry and we sometimes give him a can of wet.
The food really smells good, but I havne't gotten up enough courage to actually taste it.LOL!
Anyways,he hasn't been eating like he used to.He used to eat a little in the morning and then dinner.
Is he changing to only one time a day?Do Havs only eat once a day?
Should I try finding another brand?
He will however eat anything that us humans eat,so can it be that he got a taste for human food and that is why he is snubbing his dog food??
Sorry for bombarding you all with these questions, but Duncan really never turned away from food,so this got me wondering????
And he is acting normally,playing,etc.....
THoughts/???????

Oh,BTW he weighs about 20 lbs and he has a vet visit scheduled for Thursday, and you know I'll be asking the vet too!!

Dot,
I'm not a food expert, but if I were you I wouldn't change Duncan's food UNLESS he is allergic to it or gets other disturbing physical symptoms from it. That's the first step towards creating a finicky eater. Besides the fact that as they become older they tend to eat a little less, he's probably wanting your human food and refuses his good old doggy food as you noticed. I would keep putting his regular food down at the regular times and take it up after 20 min. He will understand that if he doesn't it HIS food he won't get any other food instead. He might go 2 full days w/o eating though, be prepared, they are determined little dogs. If on the 3rd day he still refuses his food, THEN I would worry. My Vet does NOT recommend to feed 1x/day because that upsets their stomach in the long run. Try to continue feeding him 2x/day.
Of course all this blabla is worthless if you actually do feed him human food in between. In that case I would stop eating my food and wait for the good stuff too, if I were a dog.

To keep it interesting for Molly, I've found three different foods that she likes and that agree with her: Merrick Turducken, Innova, and Chicken Soup.

She never knows which will be in her bowl, along with some vegetables, or some shredded chicken, or some cottage cheese, or a hard-boiled egg.

So, she's always excited when I'm fixing her bowl. It's really cute!

Molly eats three small meals a day, with an occasional homemade cookie treat in between if it seems she needs to be held-off for awhile. She's 19 pounds, and the vet said she's not overweight...she has lots of good muscle!

Oh, I don't know. I'm not a nutritionist nor a behaviorist, but I agree with Maryam's assessment (quoted below). We know that Havanese are naturally inclined to be finicky, and I think we only encourage them to be picky eaters by changing their food around.

If you really feel the need to change things up, why not keep the same base food, but add a smidge of something to it on occasion? I still think you are creating an opportunity for them to refuse regular meals with that if you do it often enough.

Ugh! I may not find it until Tuesday next week unless you want to leave a bread crumb in a PM.
