A little Nervous

Hello guys!!!
I am starting to get a little nervous about Betzie coming home. Believe me I am excited as well but I just think about my other dogs and I want them to like her and get along. I always think in my head that they are like mommy don't you love us still. I know I put those thoughts in my own head. I know that it will take time for all to adjust...just needed to let it out. I think of Jillee the most.....b/c she is my baby....I want her to like Betzie and for them to play togther.....which I know they will but it will take time. Then starting over with the potty training again.....Jillee is fully house trained wich is a big plus......I am sure in a month all will be ok.....everyone thinks that I am crazy for getting another dog. This one lady said why do you want four dogs and I said well why do you have two kids.....don't get me wrong I love kids but I can't have kids and these are our babies.....my hubby gets mad when people make comments about it as well...he loves his babies too!!! Just needed to share my concerns...thanks for listening...or i mean reading!!!!

Megan, it's normal to be nervous. But I honestly think they will all get along well from day one and will play with little Betzie from day 2! It's a lot of work, but also more fun, I guess...

I think we all get those feelings. I regretted Dora cause Belle wouldn't even look at her for 2 weeks. She would stare at her and hide her toys, etc. I thought I made a really bad decision. Then a month later, she was sleeping next to her and she loves Dora (not as much as Dora loves her!) I think there is an adjustment period that you will have when everyone finds their place in the family.

The puppy stage is the best and the worst time too! I keep reminding myself before I bring another one home- all the bad things. I can't leave things down and I am responsible for everything!

But a new puppy- what isn't sweeter!

Amanda (who is excited for you!)

You sound like any nervous new-mom-to-be. I'm sure they will all get along with Betzie just fine. I too had four dogs when I couldn't have kids and people thought I was crazy. After I adopted, I had two kids, four dogs, four cats and a fish. Now that was bedlam!

i've read that it's good to introduce them all in a neutral place, like a dog park or someone else's back yard, and then bring them home together.

i have had dogs and cats living together and they became great friends, in fact, my cat fell in love with my buddy' big lab and would not let the poor dog alone when they visited.

i bet it's gonna be great and i envy you the good times with that housefull.

Megan, DH and I can relate. We couldnt have kids so our pets are our kids. Never apologize to anyone for loving your pets. I love your come-back to the person who questioned you.
I'm sure little Betzie will fit within your family in no time. You have enough love for all of them.

What we did with Jillee was we let our two out to potty and run for a minute..then we brought Jillee out of her carrier and put her butt in there faces so they can sniff her....then we just let them sniff her and we brought her in the house after them....they got along but did not play together till a month later......Jillee and Lizzie love to play together...it is very fun to watch....I think it has made Lizzie act more like a playful puppy!!!

I think they will be the best of friends before you know it. I also wonder about getting another havanese. I love Mirabel soooo much I wonder if I will be disappointed in the next. I am sure that it will be totally different and I will love it just as much but it still makes you think. Since your lab and cocker accepted Jillee so well I am sure they will be excited when Betzie comes home. There is just something about havs playing together!
