Blockage question

I have never had an issue like this before, and am probably over -reacting but would love to hear from those who have had experience with this.

Laila would not eat this am. At around noon she threw up bile (which she sometimes does when she has an empty stomach)

All afternoon she has tried to "crawl down my throat" which is what I call her behavior when she is in pain. As when she goes into labor, she climbs on me, even when I am sitting up straight and she tries to curl up under my chin, on my chest. This afternoon she was shaking when doing this. Thinking she might be hungry we tried yogurt, scrambled egg, wet food, cheese, and she sticks her nose up at it all. She refused to eat her dinner and is now in a dark room, curled up on a chair. I have gone in several times and loved on her, but she will not come out of the den.

Can anyone tell me the symptoms of a blockage? She normally does not eat things she should not, but I am thinking that there is a chance she ate something. Of course this is happening during the weekend, when my vet is not available

Any thoughts?

I would take her to an emergency vet. Clearly she is troubled.

I agree with Pucks104. If she seems to be in pain, I wouldn't try to wait it out. Of course these things always happen on evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Hope everything is okay with Lalla. Keep us posted and good luck.

Do you have 24hr vet hospital near by? Where she can get an X-ray?? The shaking part sounds scary.

I DEFINITELY would take her to the ER if you can. Kodi's symptoms when he had the blockage were similar, though they also ruled out pncreatitis, which canals cause severe abdominal pain. They were able clear the blockage medically, avoiding surgery, but is was a worrisome (and expensive!) few days in the hospital. Hope she's feeling better SOON!!!

I wouldn't even take a chance and take her to the ER. You are telling us she is clearly in pain. I would rather be safe than sorry!

So far we are thinking that she had an upset stomach and then got dehydrated. She ate breakfast (of course a special one) today and took about 5 syringes of water this morning. She slept in her crate calmly all night. I have the SubQ ready if she needs it but are watching to see if keeps breakfast down. If she throws up again - she will head to the vet ER. If she goes, I cant go with her, so I am praying that we are able to get her back to normal at home. Not that I dont trust hubby, but I would hate for her to be so scared at the ER and me not be there - and he most likely would never ask the questions that I would have.

These babies sure do keep you busy!
