He's driving me crazy...

So, cold weather has hit. It got pretty cold over the weekend. We stayed indoors. But now it's back to work, which means pottying outside. And it's -20C.

I got his boots ready and put them on him this morning because he absolutely keeps trying to lift his bare paws off the cold ice and snow and he apparently doesn't have levitating abilities. And I don't blame him, I wouldn't want bare feet out there either! Normally, he's happy as a clam in his boots. Not that he likes putting them on, but he's normally happy outside with them on his feet, even when it's in the -30s.

Not today. Today he's doing his 'try to levitate' routine even with his boots on. He absolutely has to go poop, but won't go when I take him. Then I bring him inside and have to listen to his soft, pathetic, woe-is-me "poop whine" that he makes when he has to go. So, I've bundled up and taken him out there 4 times already and he won't go. He looks at me like I'm some sort of dog-abuser. Then we come back inside and he cries. Plus, since I'm at work it's not like I can take him every 10 minutes.

Argh...I know he'll get used to it...but still, he's driving me nuts!

ha ha

Plus, it's no bloody fun for me to go out in -20 either!

-20 really????? I'd be whining too! I don't have much advice except that you two poor souls will hopefully get used to the weather and you have last year to prove that will happen. Have you tried indoor options.? Timmy won't use an indoor option but I'm really working with Mae to continue with her potty patch just so I have at least a second option with her. She has proven not to like the cold thus far and I don't think it's been below 40 here. 40 must be bikini weather for you guys. Keep your chin up!

He uses indoor at home, but at work he has to go outside. He'll adjust...he always does. He's usually fine with the boots on. Today he's being a bit of a Drama King.

He has 2 sets...one is a set of muttluks and the other is a cheap set my mom picked up somewhere (that look just like the muttluks). I tend to use the cheaper ones more often as they are just a bit easier to put on as they have a bit more give). They get easier to put on the more you do it. Brody is fine once they are on. He adapted to them super quick (at first he walked funny, but he got over that really fast) and now after months of no boots I can put them on without him even walking funny.

Lots of dogs really don't like boots. Brody is just much happier with them on in the cold. He's a bit of a wuss...just like his dear ole ma!! hee hee

Oh, and we finally had success. I just about froze my hands off trying to get the poop bag open. Brrrrrrrr.....

Today I dug out his Hurrta winter coat, so we'll see if that makes a difference. Usually he doesn't need that until it's into the -30s, but he definitely seemed cold yesterday. And it's -26C today. Blech.

Between the boots, harness, winter coat....it's starting to almost take longer to get him ready in the morning than me!
