Dot, a local pet store, even a chain like Petco, should give out free samples to the customers. I think almost every pet store I've been to has done this.

The only chain I have close to me is Petland,so I think I'll give them a try.
Thanks Lina!

I've gone to a few smaller Mom & Pop type of pet stores that will stock a bunch of samples for customers to try.

Most dog food companies offer cases of free samples to the retailers that buy from them, so just ask the stores if they have any. They may not be out in front for anyone to grab lest someone just snag a bunch of free food and not buy from them. If you ask, you may be surprised to find that they have some stashed away that you can have.

You can probably just call them ahead of time too to see if they do give out samples.

You're welcome.

Kimberly, that's because your knowledge is so vast in comparison to mine so you have a lot more to say.

When I order peepads from petco I buy in HUGE quantity and they usually send me a rediculous amount of free samples. (Last time I got 6 different food samples as well as 8 chew toys in a variety of sizes.) I donate the samples and the toys too big for N&N to the local pet rescue!
However, If you are looking for specific samples I recommend going to the store!

I haven't seen samples at the larger pet stores, but there is an independent specialty pet store that has a rack of samples. Maybe someone on the Forum that lives near you would know of a store closeby?

Dot - the one problem with a single sample bag is that it isn't big enough to gradually mix with your normal food and then feed straight. If you transition too quickly you can get digestive upset. Make sure when you get your samples that they give you quite a few bags of the same kind so you can really decide if it's right. If you explain that to them, they hopefully will be accommodating.

Also, it might help if you decide what brand/food you'd like to try. You can look up various nutritional analysis here: www.dogfoodanalysis.com
