Everlasting Fun Ball!

I just got my guys this Everlasting Fun Ball yesterday - they have been cooped up in the back of the house since we are remodeling our bathroom and they are BORED.

They LOVE it, but, ah, they haven't really figured out how to get the treats out very quickly. Scout spent an hour with it, Lincoln spent the next hour with it, and then they had one vicious 2 second fight over it. I had to make the treats REALLY tiny so they would accidentally fall out....eventually. I am using other treats than the ones they sell with the toy (since those looked nasty to me).

Does anyone else have this toy? How did you teach your Hav to get the treats out? Scout keeps sticking his long tongue in the holes and Lincoln will roll it around gently with his paw. Not too effective....

We have the talking treat balls. We took the "talking" mechanism out though. McKenna learned how to roll them around and get the treats out in no time flat. I just had to roll it on the floor myself a few times and once her nose told her there were even MORE treats inside she had it down. I thought she was the brilliant one until I realized that Sedona learned that all she had to do was follow the ball as McKenna rolled it and she'd get the treats. The treats come out fairly easily and often two at a time. I fill the balls with Charlie Bear treats from Trader Joe's. We had a really big treat ball that had a mechanism where we could adjust how easily the treats came out so that once they were trained on how it worked it could be adjusted to make it harder. I wish these had the same mechanism. It sounds like Lincoln and Scout have the concept down. They just need practice.

Jane~ We bought the Everlasting Treat Ball when we had Shadow. She loved it and so did Rascal, DS's Peke. We bought the small one because Shadow was so tiny. Unfortunately, Rascal, who is much larger (16 lb.) quickly learned how to get the treat out of it. We were afraid she'd choke on it, so I went and bought the medium sized one for her. Tori will play/chew either one, but when Rascal is here, the little one gets put up They both will spend hours chewing when the treat is new but, after they gnaw it down to a flat shape neither one shows much interest. Also, neither one of them liked the liver flavored treats, just the chicken.

Leslie,

Do you know how big your small one was? Oh, wait, I just realized you have a slightly different ball from the same manufacturer.

The Everlasting Fun Ball I got seems big for a Hav - it is 2 3/4" in diameter. They didn't have a smaller one in the store, and online they list "Med" and "Large" as the options - I guess the one I have is "Med".

Maybe I'll go back and look for the small one that you have!

Susan, that is so funny about McKenna and Sedona! Give your "team cream" a hug for me!

I have the same one as Leslie but I have a big version for my bigger dog. He loves it except after awhile if the edges get worn down he can pop the treat out lol. He's my chewer though and it keeps him entertained.

I had the everlasting treat ball for my smaller dogs, but the big dogs would always steal them and take the treat out, so I gave up!

Anne and Kim~ That's exactly what Rascal (DS's peke) would do...pop it out and try to eat all at once. When I got the larger one for her she wasn't able to get her mouth completely around it to pop out the treat like she could w/the small one.

I bought and everlasting fun ball too - it lasted about 2 hours before my chew monster had chewed off the little "nubbies" that held the treats in... I had to take it away as Boo was starting to rip off little pieces of the ball. I really need to figure out something that he cant destroy...Boo as destroyed every single toy, we have bought, including a kong. Any suggestions. I have found on plush that he pulled all the stuffing out off but the "shell" he has yet to pull apart.

Have you tried an Orbee tuff ball or one of the other Orbee products? Kubrick loves his Orbee ball... and it smells like peppermint too (even after four months)!

Thanks for the recommendation, Lina! I will check it out!

I never thought my guys were "bored" before.....I mean, we got Scout and he provides us (and Lincoln) with plenty of "entertainment"

Until our remodel it done, we are cooped up in a small space, so these toys will be lifesavers!
