Oh, thank you everyone! Maddie thanks you too! Last night actually was fantastic! Maddie did everything perfect! She was her usual crazy self before class, but as soon as we entered the room, I told her our code word, "school", and she immediately went into student mode!
She immediately did her sit, down, stay, come without hesitation. She sat without breaking while the evaluator greeted me, petted her, checked her ears and paws, and groomed her with a comb (yes, I made sure she was mat-free first)!
She didn't flinch or even stop watching me when we walked through a crowd with people banging pans, walking with walkers, canes, dropping chairs, etc. What a good girl!
The scariest part was when we had to do the meet and greet with another person with her dog. I couldn't believe my bad luck when I was paired with the lady with the husky/shepherd mix that doesn't like other dogs. We met in the middle of the room, I sat Maddie before greeting the lady, but the lady's dog wanted to get to Maddie. Fortunately, she used her knee to block her dog to keep it away while we shook hands. The evaluator was watching closely to make sure that nothing happened, but Maddie sat without breaking during this. I was so proud of her! She even had no problem during the 3 minute separation part of the test, which is hard for a "velcro Hav". I am
very proud of my girl. The trainer suggested that Maddie would be an excellent candidate for "Read to Rover" in libraries and visiting assisted-living facilities. They will contact me soon to set up an interview.
So I took a couple of pics of my girl this morning with her CGC class completion certificate and paperwork showing she passed all her tests. The evaluator and I both send in copies of her test to AKC and she'll get her official certificate later. I was only going to post one pic, but decided to post the second, since it shows how bored Maddie is with the whole thing. She gave a big yawn during picture taking. That's my girl!
