Lucy has FINALLY started peeing outside

After 7 months (or I should say 5 months since I've had her) , Lucy had always resisted peeing outside. I had tried many times. She only went on her pad! No matter what-even if she had to wait hours. But, she didn't mind doing #2 outside. Monday, I took her for a walk and she peed not 1 but 2 times outside! I was shocked! Lots of praise followed (obviously). Everyday we have gone on walks since then, she has peed outside (in addition to going on her pads).

I wonder if it has to do with the cold air? Or natural maturity? Anyway, I am so happy and proud of my girl.

Well you are going to want to use potty pads when it is freezing outside in the winter.

Hah yes you are right! Potty pads work well for me on a daily basis anyway. I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor so I don't have to put on shoes and go out at night or in early morning to let her go out. It's very convenient to have the pads, but I would like to take her places and not have to put down a pad just so she will pee. This opens up options for traveling in the car and going to other peoples homes for sure.

Yay!!! I do think it is natural maturity. I've never heard of one yet that didn't EVENTUALLY give outdoors a try, when given the opportunity. Just be careful now, though. If you CARE about keeping your indoor option, make sure you continue to reinforce that too, or she may get to the point where she ONLY wants to go outdoors.

I used to take her for walks with my parents' 5 year old Hav, Honey, when i was visiting. Honey would pee/poop multiple times during our walks. I was hoping that Honey would be a good role model for her and teach her the ways. Lucy never caught on LOL. My parents were always baffled and frustrated as to why she never went to the bathroom outside given the opportunity. I'm glad that she's matured since! They will be pleased, as they are taking care of her for a couple weeks next month when I go out of the country.
