Massotherapy and pressure points for dogs
We have had a rough week with poor sweet Django. A couple of nights (2:00 a.m. to be exact) he's awakened by awful cramps in the lower abdominal area. These cramps cause him pain and discomfort and usually the aid of prednisone helps put them at bay however, this last week, nothing was helping him. He was in discomfort for 3 hours before he was able to settle.
Last night was another one of those nights. About 2 hours into this awful issue, I remembered my DH massotherapist told me that men love to have their tail bones messaged because it's also a pressure point that helps release tension. I started gently rubbing this area on Django and in about 15 minutes, Django settled and finally fell asleep.
If certain pressure points work in helping humans, wouldn't you think the same holds true for dogs? Has anyone tried any kind of massotherapy on their dogs?
