Digging

I'm not quite sure what's up with Amy's newest fascination...everytime she gets in her bed, she starts digging & then makes this strange sweeping motion with her head. She constantly has navy blue fuzz all over her beard now. She does this with her food too if some falls out of her bowl, she takes her head and sort of sweeps it back into a pile. Does anyone elses dog do this? Any possible explanation for it?? Mike & I keep joking that we're going to wake up & find a hole in the floor & the dog will be gone; tunneling her way to Antartica.

She's started doing some very odd things since her surgery. I had bowl of dried flowers on the coffee table & she spread them all over the floor, she ate a starfish (eww) and DH found her sitting in my computer chair drinking the last few drops of tea out of my cup on the computer desk.

This is the dog who never did anything but lay in corner & hide!!!!!!!!! I have to laugh at all this because honestly, it's the first time we've ever seen her actually act like a dog. Perhaps she's finally "finding herself"...I have no idea!! LOL!

Well sounds like she is being a little burger. I know Jillee will dig and dig at her bedding to get it just right....it is fun to watch. My sheltie used to cover up her food with her nose all the time but that was because we had ants one time so I think she was trying to cover it up. I wonder what is going through her little head. They can be fun but also drive us crazy as well..we have had a time with our two older ones this week.

Jen, I'm happy to read your post. It really sounds like she's starting to act like a Human, ehh, I mean Havanese! Pablo loves to dig too, anywhere you can imagine and for any reason you can imagine. He grunts and snores and makes the funniest, indescribable noises. Enjoy your new dog, this is probably only the beginning!

Oh that is great to hear but no one wants starfish kisses!!! I have to ask where did she find one?

Glad to hear Amy is finding ways to entertain herself!

Yea, Amy. Sedona digs like that too. It's funny to watch.
The tea thing, yep, I have one of those too. If she can, McKenna will snatch the last drops of tea, coffee, soda and beer. We cannot get up and leave our cups on any table that McKenna's tongue can reach.
It sure sounds like Miss Amy is discovering the joys of being a dog.

Oh yes, MeMe loves to dig and when she's had enough to eat will upend her food bowl and bury it in blankets. My other Havanese did the same thing. Must be in the genes. So glad to hear that Miss Amy is finally acting like she loves your house.

Dazey's a digger, too. Dig, dig, dig, spin around, dig, dig, dig, spin around, on and on, lol. She doesn't do the face thing though, how cute! Yuck to the starfish, ugh, I'm surprised she didn't get sick.

Lina, I gotta ask, what color is Kubrick? I just love his coloring!

Thanks Shelly! Kubrick is considered a brindle. He has black, cream, grey and orange in him.

Jen, it sounds like Amy has truly blossomed now!

Tinky, Piaget and Martha all do the pushing motion with their nose. They will put a bed or a pee pad in their food bowl if they are so inclined to bury it, and I have no idea why they do that. That is one dog behavior I'd love to have explained because it amuses me, but also puzzles me.
