Is it ever too cold?

Luck and I went out at 7 this a.m. and almost were blown over. It's 20 degrees with chilly winds and light snow here in the mountains of NH. Is it just young puppies or do I remember that there's a temperature below which we shouldn't bring a Hav outside? Please advise. Thanks forum.

last winter it was down to -20. my little hav still as able to go outside and do her little morning routine with no problem (she went really quick and i didn't complain that she went on the deck). She also went for a short walk, but wearing boots (mukluks) and a warm sweater. She actually minds the cold less than the heat.

Mine has been out in the -30s Celsius, but not without his boots and winter jacket on. He was fine. Me, on the other hand, nearly froze and couldn't wait for him to finish his business. And of course, me muttering, "hurry up, I'm freezing to death" made him take longer. LOL

I know there are temperatures where on the radio they are warning that frostbite can occur very quickly. Dogs can get frostbite as well. I can never find the exact temperature where the danger rises listed anywhere though.

We were at a trial that was part of a VERY big dog show today. For those New Englanders, it was at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds, and spread between three buildings. It was in the low 20's all day, with a FIERCE wind!!! Kodi wore his coat every time he went out to potty, or walk between buildings, and was much the happier for it.

The Huskies and Akitas seemed delighted in the weather. All the other dogs, no matter what their size, either wore coats or looked miserable, and got their business done as fast as possible so they could get back inside!!!

Im buying Ricco a coat this weekend. I figure since he had to be buzzed short {he is a shelter rescue, you can imagine the shape he was in} he needs to have some thing warm on. Plus its cute for pics lol

It was miserable yesterday. A cardinal flew into our garage and refused to leave until this morning.

LOL! Now THAT is cold!

And in answer to the original question - YES! There is a too cold. Poor Ludo. I made him go out alone this morning and he kept turning around looking at me to shame me like, "This just isn't nice at all, Mom." He practically did a handstand to keep from all fours on the frost.
