Chico the therapy dog

Our family is having a rough time. DH had surgery and is having
complications. Doc said he is in the 2% of people with this type of complication and the end is not in sight. He has been in the hospital for over a week and could be there for 2 -3 more weeks.
Yesterday, I took Chico right up to the surgical floor to visit DH.
They were thrilled to see each other. Chico's tail was wagging 100mph.
DH's spirits were lifted temporarily.
I was glad I had gone through all the classes and certifications.
(We are involved with National Capital Therapy Dog Inc.)

They wouldn't have allowed a dog up on the floor for a visit w/o this.
I'm so glad we are owned by a Havanese...actually 2.

Maybe I can sneak Cali in for a visit.

I am so sorry your husband is having a rough times. Hopefully, your therapy dog will do wonders in making him feel better. My uncle has a pappion. My aunt was very sick with cancer and he used to take the dog to stay with her every day in her hospital room. Lucky was not a therapy dog, but a very good dog and they never gave him any trouble. He would just bring him up in a sherpa bag. I hope your husband feels better soon. I would certainly try to sneak Cali in. What is the worst thing that could happen???

I'm sorry your husband is having these problems and I'll pray for a quick recovery for him. I'm sure having Chico there helped. Hang in there, though I know it's often difficult.

Best wishes for your DH speedy recovery.

I'm thrilled to read Chico could help with his own special kind of therapy.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband I hope he pulls through at godspeed! I know it had to brighten his day to see Chico Dogs have an AMAZING effect on healing the body and soul.

Gucci had a therapy day, too. (No, she's not certified, but I have connections ) I work with a small group of women and volunteer with Operation Smile and we make blankets, robes, teddy bears, etc. for the local Children's Hospital. On my turn to 'deliver', I decided to bring Gucci up there with me and she was only about 3 months old at the time. I remember one little boy with cancer, she would not stop lovin' on him and giving him kisses. It was so wonderful to see that smile and hear that giggle.

I've spent a great portion of my life in a hospital. As of last count, my son has had 17 surgeries and I know what its like to sleep on that little 'guest' sofabed and worry and wait and pray. I know how hard it is for you both and my thoughts and prayers will be with you!

I bet Chico cheered your husband up more then 'real' food! I think you should sneak Cali in there They may let you, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Oh Nan, I'm sorry to hear about the complications your husband is facing. I know someone else going through similar problems right now. It sounds so discouraging.

I'm so glad Chico was able to get in and see your husband. It sounds like it was mutual therapy!
