WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU IN THE DOG BOOKS...

Dingleberries here, dingleberries there...if you can't deal with cleaning poopy butts don't get a Havanese.

They totally need to tell you this on the AKC breed info site!

That's true----poopy butt is just a given.....

Want to know what's the worst? Cleaning Vinnie's poopy butt! You haven't lived till you cleaned up poopy butt on a sheltie, with fur pants! WOW! I almost hurled!Worse then anything I ever did......bar none!

Fortunately for me,Vinnie is now 3 and it has only happened really badly twice. Both involved a food switch!

It was so bad this last time,I couldn't even carry him upstairs to the tub! I put 1/2 of him in the kitchen sink/1/2 on the other side, and just sprayed his hind end to get the worst of it......Vinnie is big----he is 34 lbs.! At least with a hav.....you can pop in the sink and get it over with.....with Vin...geez...an hour later,I was still working on his butt!

I guess I have lived then. When my kids were little our Sheltie got in my kids Easter baskets and ate most of their chocolate bunnies (after she took off the foil of course). Could've been dangerous of course but luckily it was just diarrhea for 3 days. And lots of

So much fun.

By comparison Tessa's butt is easy Luckily these guys are little and easy to pop in the tub.

Ha! Great timing thread -- I just pull off a dingleberry on Bonnie's butt hair this evening. Yuck.
She's going to the groomer on Mon for a butt trim, as well as other grooming. Yahoo.

Tori underwent dingleberry removal last night. She's still post-spay and can't have a bath until earliest Monday...

My g/f watched our dogs one day around Christmas and we brought them back home thinking all was great until we smelled something horrible. Ricky had squished.... well, you know...... all over his backside, under his tail. Guess they hadn't noticed that?! ARGH! it was midnight and Ricky had already scooted across our family room rug and I was washing away in the garage sink. NO FUN!

I have to remember to warn my Mom and anyone else who might watch our dogs for us, that this could happen! Be prepared.

But from what you all are saying about Shelties... um... no thanks!!!!!
