Question The BIG D* from shots?

So, this is Konas intake today, he got his 13 week shots, dewormed, aspirin for pain in a tiny piece of cheese. Can the shots give him diarea? ICK! Its so nasty and happening like 2 times an hour for the past hour and a half. So nasty! Poor little guy. The vet said if he was still itchy from the shot, we could do a childs dose of benadryll, so we did that about 7:00. I am sure this is normal, but he's not had the D after any of his other shots.
Can anyone confirm this is a VERY VERY VERY temp. side effect from shots?

Brooke, I don't have answers to your queries, but I do hope Kona feels better soon.

Ug... I just took him out to potty... he pee'd then went romping around in the yard, then came back in with me.... only to shower my carpet "again" with poo. So, we have our 3rd bootie bath of the night, and he's sleeping on the couch beside me. This is no fun. Poor guy. I decided to wait on the heart worm pill until the morning or afternoon and not overload his tummy with MORE meds. Yes, this too shall pass... and I hope it's sooner than later!

Sorry Brooke. Sounds normal. he's had a lot of stress today. sprain, vet, shots, asperin. I think it is normal- but if it continues tomorrow- I would call the vet. Poor little Kona. Poor you.

Oh, definitely! He's on stress overload right now. May I suggest that you not give any other vaccines when he is already stressed out? You might want to consider separating out vaccines as well. (I don't ever give Rabies with other vaccines so you can monitor the results and also make sure that they don't get too much at once.) I'm really surprised your vet would give a vaccine, heartworm meds, and other things after a painful event. It's just too much.

He only got 2 vaccines today in one shot. Neither was his rabies. That's the next shot. I asked him if he wanted to wait and he said no, we needed to get them done. The heartworm pill is still in my purse. I didn't want to overload him. My poor sweet angel is so tired and we both want the new day to start already! What a hard night for him Thanks kim for the heads up. I should have waited, but vet said it was fine to do it now.

Aspirin in dogs can cause gastrointestinal upsets so it's a toss up which is causing it. From what I've read, if it's the aspirin, it should pass quickly. I hope your little guy feels better soon.

Oh.. so it could be the aspirin? Hm... I hadn't thought about that. i do hope if it is that or the shots it passes fast. I usually quit giving him food or water by 7:00pm but tonight I left the water out a bit longer so he doesn't get dehydrated. we'll have to take him out more often tonight due to the (d) anyhow
