Another Good Reason To Micro Chip Your Dog..

There's a kennel a few miles from me (an excellent one that I have always used in the past to board my Aussies) that came up in the Oregon news recently.

I know this may not apply to Hav's in many cases, but it is a good idea to make sure you can identify your dog without contest...

Also, many of you may have (in addition to Hav;s)dog breeds that can fall into this danger...

oh goodness. thanks diane for bringing this up.

i am a firm believer in having your dog chipped. our border collie was stolen (before i actually met her, when she was just the dh's dog...) and actually found her way back home, she had a broken chain connected to her when my hubby found her. he had her chipped right away after that.

seriously, the owner was "in a hurry?" whoa.

WELCOME BACK DIANE!!!! Boy, that's scary. I just saw a story on the news this week where two newborns were sent home with the wrong parents. Both sets of parents had the feeling something "just wasn't quite right" but couldn't identify what it was.

I had the same thought Amanda. "Hmmmm, better trained, doesn't bark.....I'll take mine back after you've trained him!"

How on earth can you make that mistake? I would think that their dog would be happy to see them at the kennel rather than who is this taking me home. Bizarre.

I can't imagine taking home the wrong dog, no matter how rushed I am.

Diane~ Yes, welcome back! I missed you!

That is strange to take home the wrong dog, not once but, twice...

Tori was microchipped when she was spayed 2 wks. ago. She actually received two. One w/a frequency of 125 kHz, which is currently the most common one in use. The other operates at 134.2 kHz. Many other countries have gone to it, so it seems the U.S. may be moving to it (the 134.2 kHz model) in the near future. So, I guess you could say she's doubly protected

I definitely find the situation very hard to believe. Who does that...twice

We had Hank microchipped the first week we had him. He has a Home Again chip implanted. Anyone really know the advantages/disadvantages of either the Avid or Home Again 125kHz RFID tags? Leslie, I've read that 134.2kHz chips were available as well, should we double chip Hank too?
