Earthquake

Anyone else in the earthquake zone? I heard from Anne in StL and I've seen in the news there has been some damage in IL.

We woke up around 4:30 with our bed shaking and rolling. Tessa was totally unfazed. But we just now got an aftershock and Tessa was going nuts barking, and she's not a barker.

To all of you in CA I'm sure it's no big deal but we're not used to it. Although we've had them over the years from the New Madrid fault we've never had major damage. Still, it's a little unsettling...

Jan my mom called me this morning and told me about it, she said she thought her plant was going to fall off the stand so she sat there ready to catch it

I just looked it up and it was a 5.2 quake--that is a big deal. I have lived her for 11 years and my biggest quake has been in the fours.

Wow! That would be unsettling! I'm glad you're safe!

I've never experienced an earthquake, so I know I would be freaking out! lol Hurricanes? Another story. Tornados? Yep.

I'm glad you didn't get any damage. So frightening!

I was in the shower a few minutes ago and felt it.....kinda of weird. The first one this morning we all slept through it. But my sister and my best friend felt it. I called my neighbor and they felt it. Plus wends night we had a sonic bomb late at night but we were not told what it was until yesterday.

Yikes..

I have lived in CA and never got used to earthquakes (beds ..furniture moving across the floor!), as the hospital I worked at went through disaster drills every year, noting which areas would suffer the most damage...I ALWAYS lost sleep for several weeks after those drills.

Since living in Oregon, we have had a few un-nerving ones..I had an emergency tub outside, but had at one point abandoned it as the dampness effected the contents (hmmm, I need to re-think that one!)

Leeann, lol...

The news just said the aftershock we just got was a 4.5 - no wonder Tessa was going nuts. I guess at 4:30 she was too busy getting her beauty sleep to be bothered, lol.

I didn't realize this was the anniversary of the SF quake. That's kind of creepy. There was a monster earthquake here in the 1800s when the area was still unpopulated but it caused the Ohio River to flow backwards. The experts still say we will get another huge earthquake here one day and it will be very bad because unlike CA our buildings aren't built to withstand quakes.

Isn't it enough that we are in tornado country??!! We had a bad tornado here killing 20 some people in 2006.

Time to move...lol

Megan, you slept through it??? Really? Maybe it wasn't felt as strongly up north? Because we were really moving!
