Gryff's favorite new toy...ice cubes!

My DH and I have been outside for the better part of three days edging our mulch beds and we have had Gryff with us tied around various trees on his long lead. Today I brought his water in a big dish with lots of ice cubes. I don't know if I've ever seen him have so much fun. He was bobbing for ice cubes, then throwing them around. Of course, he would get his face soaking wet, then shove his nose in the dirt. Needless to say, he needs a bath tonight.

That sounds like so much fun! My chihuahua loves ice cubes too. She got in the habit (long story) of refusing to drink out of her bowl, but would fuss at my husband to bring her a glass with ice and water in it. She would refuse paper cups, or her bowl...it had to be a glass glass. Talk about a diva!

I'm so glad to hear of Gryff having such a good time. Sorry you have to give him a bath, but it sounds like it might be worth it in this case!

Ice Cubes as toys

Cali practically dives in the freezer to get an ice cube when I have it open. (It's a bottom freezer).
She loves to play with ice cubes, tossing them around and throwing them up in the air before she eats them.
The other dogs like them too, but not as much as Cali.

Norah likes to attack ice cubes. She pushes them around and jumps on them all the time. It's very funny to watch!

Ice cubes are a great "toy"....I'll have to try them in water on a warm day, but I think I'll stick to the deck so that dirt digging isn't an option! Izzy loves to chase ice cubes across the kitchen floor.

lol I love watching them when they discover something new and how fun it can be. I also give my boys ice cubes but usually on the deck and even then they seem to get a little dirty.

Ivy, I haven't yet seen Tessa go for ice cubes but my Sheltie was like Cali :-) And when the kids were little when they'd get ice out of the fridge door some would inevitably drop on the floor. It was like Christmas morning to Sophie. We have a different fridge set -up now and no little kids around. I'll have to try to give one to Tessa to see how she reacts. Thanks for the reminder It's so cute!

I have that picture in my mind because Shelby does that with ice cubes. She loves them and tosses them all over the house. Thank goodness it's only water.

Love the mulch face.
