So, we are well into training with Kona, on the sit, stay commands. But.. the thing is, I found his "treat" stash! Behind his toys. He's not eating them when I give them as a praise. Hm.... weird...... What else have ya'll used in training besides treats???
Brooke, that is pretty cute! If he is performing for the treats, he probably likes them, he may just be stashing his "extras"...like a little chipmunk saving up! My yorkie used to beg for treats, which he would then go hide in various places around the house!
I know some dogs will work for a favorite toy too, and the really praise oriented ones will work simply for affection and to please. I'm sure some other folks will have some good ideas.

LOL, I guess I didn't think about him stashing them for later. LOL So funny my Kona is!
I am going to try his favorite toys as rewards and playing. We do lots of high pitched "GOOD BOY KONA" and such and lots of belly rubs and kisses when he does good!
Oliver never wanted treats. Praise worked every time!
PS-now he wants praise and K-9 jerky
I know what you mean about K-9 Jerky. They will do anything for that stuff. I am placing an order today, because I am almost out of it, and then what would I do. I swear Karen puts something in that stuff.
I also use hand signals when I am training with treats. Hopefully, I will be able to use just hand signals. They know sit, down and stay with hand signals only.
