Havs are contagious!

I have had Daisy for almost 3 months. Everywhere we go people love her, and on one knows what a hav is. I did not know myself until about 9 months ago when I found them on the internet and fell in love.
One week after I got her one of our friends brought thier hav home and one month after that another friend brought hers home. Now one of thier neighbors is getting a hav and so is the neighbors sister. And my own sister is thinking about getting her own hav instead of begging me to let her babysit Daisy. I just think once you have met a havanese and you reseach them you can not help but want one yourself. Lets be honest they are irresistible!
I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience.

Oh that's SO sweet!

Gucci has sold a few Havs I know a few people that fell in love with her and got one, and another couple that had two male havs but got a girl once they met Gucci and saw girls can be 'sweet' and loving too. Imagine that?

I have a feeling that the couple that is babysitting Gucci for our vacation might want a hav.

Heck, my MOTHER was ready to find a breeder when she met Gucci, but I had to tell her NO, she wasnt' suited for a hav. lol, She works WAY too much, she's never home, would not be good.

Daisy is just beautiful!! Havs are great, for sure. A small part of me just hopes that people who fall in love with this great breed are doing the research and getting their new pets at reputable breeders and not in pet shops.

The more popular a breed becomes, unfortunately, the more likely it is to be bred in puppy mills, sold at auctions, in pet shops, bred by John and Jane Doe just because "it's fun" , so we want to be extra vigilant about where our pups come from and make sure people do their homework.

Sorry...... I've been reading and printing out document after document on puppy mills, pet shops and animal abuse, so my mind is going a little cuckoo with all this.

BUT, I AM happy for you and your friends! Daisy is absolutely adorable and it's so nice to hear how happy you are.

McKenna and Sedona are responsible for two happy Hav owners in Southern CA. My neighbor fell in love with my girls. When her mom lost her beloved Shih Tzu a few years ago and was finally ready for another dog, Kelly told her mom about Havanese. Shortly thereafter they ended up with a wonderful 5 month old named Sherman. Kelly's aunt then fell in love with Sherman and got a puppy from the same breeder Sherman came from.

Daisy is beautiful.

Marj, I agree with you. As the breed gets popular, the puppy mills would breed them for big $$$$. I do hope people would educate themselves and buy from reputable breeders to do right by this wonderful furballs.

Daisy is so cute and you're the source of a major Havanese infection in your community. LOL How great that Daisy will have lots of playmates.

And yes, it's important to find a super responsible breeder, but so many people don't know about this option until after they've gotten a puppy mill or backyard breeder variety.

Marj, I so agree with you about the downfall of a breed's popularity.

Last week, we took a trip into Manhattan. We spotted a pet store and you know I just had to go in. In one of the plexiglass cubes was the most adorable Hav you could imagine (but aren't they all). It took every bit of will I had to turn around and walk out of that store without him. He was white and brown with some gray tips. He was trying to jump out of the box to get to me. Then he would lean over and try to get me with his paw. And I had to keep telling myself NO. Also, he was $2600.00.
