HELP with a second puppy!

Hi! We are new to this forum and we currently have one Havanese, Otto. We will be getting Hav #2 in about a week. Otto is 11 months old and pretty hyper. We are expecting our first child in September which is why we think Otto could use a little sister, Emme. Are we absolutely crazy for getting a second pup? Any tips/pointers or cautions would be greatly appreciated!!

If you have been reading any of the posts on this forum, you know that none of us are going to say you are crazy. I think you just came here to get help from all the enablers.

I got my 2nd Hav when Kodi was 11 mos. The are best friends and have been that way from day one. If you can get through the potty training stage, then you've got it made.

Now, where are the pictures?!

Congrats! I was always told you want the next one to be lower in energy than you first but that sounds like it won't be a problem!

Welcome Otto's mom and new-mom-to-be of another Havanese and your first 2L. Sounds like you're going to be doubly busy. A second one will be so much fun for Otto and hopefully keep him occupied when you have your hands full with a new baby.

To post a picture, use the advanced reply button. Scroll down to manage attachments. Pick a photo to upload and click "upload". If your image is too big you'll need to resize it and can do it here: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

Can't wait to see those photos.

Pictures

Well I still can't figure out how to embed a picture into the reply because when I use the insert image icon, it asks for the URL of the image. I did upload some pictures of Otto, and Emme (who we don't actually have just yet) in the gallery area.

Well, I just checked out the gallery pics. Otto is adorable with those two black eyes. And you weren't kidding about being high energy. Are you sure he's not part bird the way he's flying down those stairs.

Emme is precious!

When you go to reply to a post, don't use the quick reply. When the new page comes up, scroll halfway down the page where it says manage attachments. Clicking on that takes you to an upload page. Once you upload (up to 5 pictures), you can close that page and submit your post. Hope that helps.

As for having two, I think it's such a great idea that I'm getting another one very soon. My little boy Milo is just over 1 year old. Please tell me that photo flying down the stairs is manipulated and not real. He could kill himself like that. I'd be scared to death.

Holy smokes - your boy Otto knows how to fly!

You won't get an argument here on more than one dog!

I had two dalmations when my first child was born. They were about 10 & 12 at the time. They were well trained and wonderful with a baby. My daughter was a truly wonderful baby - she slept probably 20 hours a day. I had always worked and I was bored beyond belief staying home. So - we decided it would be the perfect time to train a puppy. Not only did we get one dal puppy - we got two! All I can say is that staying home was definitely not boring after that point. Daughter finally decided to wake up, pups were certainly active - and I had to vacuum twice a day because of all the dog fur. I loved every minute of it. We have always had between 2 and 4 dogs.

Welcome aboard! I love that picture of Otto flying down the stairs. How did you manage to capture that?
