DROP IT!!!!

The drop it command Gryff has been learning in class came in very handy tonight.

He had something in his mouth and I told him to drop it. Ugh, I shudder to even type this...it was a dead bat! I am so incredibly skeeved out!

I learned with my other dogs to teach them the "drop it" and "leave it" commands. They can be very useful.

not to scare you but I would keep that bat and phone the vet to see If you should bring it in to get checked. Bats are one of the biggest carriers of rabies. It might not hurt to get his opinion.

I heard recently that there has been some virus or something killing bats. I caught it right away, Gryff didn't even puncture it. Yuck.

Eeeewww!

I don't know if Gryff got hold of one of the bats around your house, but I had bats hanging at night on our porch. The floor used be strewn with insect body parts and bat poop. Once there was one dead baby bat too. I hung some helium balloons, no design or color, just plain aluminum foil type on the ceiling and the bats never returned. Apparently, the aluminum foil type balloons mess their sense of direction.

Best, Poornima

Ditto! Please call your vet at least for your own peace of mind.
