OK have a good laugh...

at my expense......I am right there with you. Yup- it's the food thing again. They had these great trial sizes at the pet store today. It is by Merrick and it is called BG (before grain.) I tried the kibble- but they have canned.

As usual, when ever I bring home a new food (for me or the boys) a sampling is in order. So two little piles placed on the floor in front of them-- Jasper took a few in his mouth and ran to another a room-- Cash stayed put and gobbled--- but then Jasper came back and stayed put and gobbled. and then-- this is the amazing thing, both of then grumbled for more!!! you know how mellow my boys are-- I can be cutting up steak and Jasper hides and Cash acts like a rug with just his eyes watching me--- never a sound.

So we will see what happens-- it would not be the first time they have eaten the sampling but not the meal.

"but why switch missy?" you ask... "you seem to have settled on your odd mix of cooked medallions and this and that thrown in..."

Well... no answer, except, I still have fantasies of being able to throw down a bowl of kibble. And I do worry if I am robbing them of nutrients by cooking the medallions.

The ingredients in this kibble are amazing. I tried the buffalo, but it comes in chicken and salmon too.

Before Grain Buffalo 11.1lb
Before traditional grain based diets were invented, mealtime for generations of dogs was provided by nature. Our new Before Grain product line provides a diet rich in high quality meat and bio-available nutrients the way nature intended. We believe a diet based primarily on fresh meat, super blue fruit, nutrient dense vegetables and high quality oils contribute to overall health and longetivity.

Fresh Buffalo is the #1 ingredient - there are NO grains, fillers, by-products, artifical colors, flavors or preservatives!

We've formulated our Before Grain dry kibble varieties with
your "everyday extraordinary" dog in mind, and the result is the most palatable, grain-free dog food on the market. This is the way food was supposed to be, before grain got involved.

Missy...I'm the same way, I get excited when we the week is up and I get to open a new "flavor" of Merrick canned to add to her kibble.

We were just talking at agility classes about dry kibble, my trainer uses grain free evo inova and I use Nature Variety's Instinct with the Merrick mixed in...now that Merrick has a "grain free" dry, I might have to try that too.

Yep, we're crazy.

Missy do you think they like it because it is on the floor and not in a bowl? Maybe they think it is a treat because you are putting it on the floor. Sometimes when Monte just looks at his kibble I will put some on the floor and he will eat it then wait for me to take more out of his bowl to put on the floor. I'm not trained either ya know.

Missy - I tried the BG canned Salmon and that's what gave my Maltese hot spots. He'd been on a salmon based kibble but that sent him over the edge - not sure you'd have a kibble problem, but boy my guy has two bald spots to prove it's rather potent!

Now I'm gonna have to see if the store near me has samples. I was looking at it the other day for my cats. Please keep us updated on how it goes.

I am the same way with their food... poor Tito has food allergies (cursed chicken) and so we went through a learning process and got him on Fromm duck and potato and he has only duck and potato treats. Before we found the right food we were going nuts trying to figure out what was going on with the boy and that meant lots of foods. I think its totally normal.

OMG Missy, are you sure I didn't write the first part of your post?? lol. My furkidlets always love the samples off the floor. That is why I have enough dog food here to feed the humane society for three years. I go and buy a big bag and low and behold, they won't take a bite. I betcha they put treats in sample bags, not the real thing!
Now, for our latest. I brought home some samples of the Natures Balance sausage looking thingys. I shredded it into some Evo kibble and they both ate the kibble and all!! AND, they ate it our of a dish!!!
The question is, do I actually go buy a sausage thingy??
Good luck to ya....
