Outside Worries

Ok - am I nuts?

But ever since Tori had the fire ant incident and Little Dani had the spider bite on her butt, I have been paranoid about Sissy laying in the grass outside.

When she is out playing and decides to lay in the grass it bothers me to the point I make her come in or I make her sit in a chair (which she doesn't mind)

I was working out in the flower beds in the back yard and she of course wanted to be out there with me. I couldn't stand her laying in the grass so I brought a chair out in the yard for her to lay/sit in. If she got down to play fine but if she started laying in the grass - I put her back in the chair.

I don't mind her laying on the patio - it's just the grass that bothers me.

My DH sprays twice a year for spiders, etc. and this always works. I just can't get the little Dani's spider bite out of my mind.

Anyone else?

Well, I have the same issue since I saw a brown recluse a few weeks back. We know they are in our area, but I haven't seen any at the new house, until last week. I don't think you are being paranoid. I think that's what we do, we worry about our babies..... but my... she looks adorable sitting up in her chair!

We have all kinds of critters in our yard right now, so I agree. I HATE when they lay, and or roll in the grass right now.
Aside from the fact they smell like fish when they come in

Hey if you can get her to sit in the chair, why not be safe rather than sorry? Although I did read that a brown recluse won't bother you unless you back it into a corner which they think Dani must have done (or sat on it).

My DH has some wonderful spray - he sprays and we keep Sissy off the yard for a few hours for it to dry. I normally don't see anything after that but it still makes me leary.

Well, I don't know if we have those spiders here. I'll have to check. But we do have fleas, bees and other creepy crawly things. Mostly I worry if we go to a park and there is goose poop all over the place. They think is is a smorgasbord.

I usually am walking around with them just watching them and stopping them when they roll in stuff..it makes me soo mad. My cocker has allergies this time of year so I take her out to potty then right back in. She likes to roll in the grass and then she just itches and scratches herself and licks as well. It is soo frustrating this time of year with her. I like to watch them because you just never know. I went over to clean my mom's house for her today and my sister let Jillee out in the back with my mom's dog and she asked after she let her out so I went and watched her..I am a little paranoid too. I just brought them both back in.

Man, I'm so jelous that you can let your little ones just OUT without a leash in your backyard. We dont have the spiders/deadly bugs issue but we have a major hawk problem. They can swoop REALLY low and it freaks me out to the point of immediately bringing them inside. Ticks are here too and I have to thoroughly check both of them daily. Do you see the bugs a lot? The chair seems like a good idea if she's just lying though. She looks so cute!

My parents and I have fenced in backyards so that makes it really nice. I too have to watch out for the hawks here as well. Just the other day hubby saw one circling around our yard and he went and got Betzie..to scary!
