Unhappy Bad news @ Raina

Well, Raina is going back to her old home today. What I can say is that my heart is breaking b/c she was amazing with the kids and she was amazing all around. What prompted this? Her agression towards Kona has left him bleeding and us in the Emergency vet for the last few hours. That is all I am comfortable saying b/c I really think Raina is going to make someone a wonderful amazing pet (in a one animal home). She's just amazing and sweet with the kids, but not with Kona and the reason for us actively seeking another dog was for an addition to our family and a play bud for Kona. Please just understand that I have to do what's best for my Kona and what is best for Raina. I can't in good conscionce contine to put Kona at risk, or have my friend who agreed to give her a forever home, put her puppy at risk. You guys pray that Raina will find a wonderful home! I know the owner said that a few other people were very interested in her so I know that she'll have a good chance of a wonderful home. I think that whatever we do from this point on, will be a puppy. no older dogs b/c Kona just wants a friend with a puppy spirit who will play with him and not be agressive or dominate to the extent of hurting him.
Thank you all for sticking this out with us, and I know that the right angel will come along at the right time.

Brooke, you are doing the right thing both for Raina and for Kona. Raina will find a wonderful home that will allow her to be an only dog. At some point you will find just the right playmate for Kona.

Brooke, I m so sorry to hear it didnt work out. It is always hard when you get an addition and they don't get along. You did the right thing though, you need them both to be happy and that just cant happen together and that is fine. Raina will find a new home and be the solo pet and will flourish. You will find a buddy for Kona and it will be the right match. Getting an older dog is tough because you dont know what their previous experiences were. A puppy sounds like it would be a good choice for your. It will be ok and you did the right thing!

Oh Brooke,
I am so sorry things didn't work out with Raina. You certainly made a wonderful attempt to integrate her into your family.
I am so sorry that Kona got hurt. Poor little puppy!
I think you have the right idea of getting a puppy to match Kona when you decide to get another dog. And a good breeder will help match the temperament so Kona will have a great little pal.

I know that your heart is breaking, but you did everything you could.

Hugs from chico, Cali and me.

Thank you all for understanding. I just hate so much that this is a 2nd failed attempt with an older dog. Hubby said that we could contact the breeder we got Kona from and we could take Kona to pick out just the right brother or sister whenever I was ready. When would you all suggest that we start looking? Is right away too soon do you think? I mean we just handed Raina back to Chad (her dad) and hubby's already talking about going to the breeder this afternoon. oh, I'm just so scared, but I do feel in my heart that a puppy is going to be the best fit, not an older dog.

I am sorry this wasn't her forever home but I am sure she will find it. I hope Kona is doing okay now?

First, I want to say I'm sorry things didn't work out, for you all and for Raina. I'm sure she will find the right. I hope Kona is OK.

Secons, strike while the iron is hot. If hubby says OK to a 2nd dog, go for it, if you are up to it.

This is a sad story. You just wanted to do the best thing for 2 dogs and your family. I hope that Kona is OK. I hope you are OK, too. I know you feel bad.....

Brooke my heart hurts for you, but you absolutely did the best for all taking Raina back. Is Kona okay as far as his wounds? Poor baby ~ sending lots of hugs and kisses from Kohana and Pebble.

Brooke, I think this is the only way to go ~ get a puppy for Kona! I am so glad that I got a young puppy as Kohana is an alpha bitch and she is being so good with Pebble. I really think it would've been disaster if we got an older dog. A puppy would fit in so well with Kona as they both could play and you wouldn't have to worry. I also think that is an excellent idea to go to Kona's breeder and have them match up a puppy with your family! Best of luck and hugs to you too.
