While the cats away...

So I'm up near boston waiting on my brothers fiance to have her baby. Capote is staying with my best friend who has a husband and a beagle.

Capote LOVES the beagle but hates her husband! It's been about 5 days now and he still barks at him..and he'll get used to him then forget that he's there and start barking again. I asked her if he was tormenting him and she said that her husband was being really nice to him but Capote was still being mean. He's also marking!!!!!!! He NEVER marks!! EVER! I'm so mad! I'm so embarressed!!! I've left him with my other best friend who's single like me and he's never been like this. She's the trainer through so I'm wondering if it's cause she knows how to handle him?? I feel so bad for the girl who's watching him. I asked her if she wanted my other best friend to come get him but she said he's ok. So I told her to keep him in the laundry room unless she's sure he's bone dry and has already gone out and to put him outside more often. What else can I do from 1500 miles away!!?? That lil fart. If he ever marked in my house he'd have a foot up his butt. That's probably why he's doing it..cause he knows I'm not there..

ohhhh, nooooo . . . marking, at his host's house no less.
either a) you gotta come home early or induce her labor so you can get home early
b) get that husband of hers to show the dog who's boss.
Someone's gotta have some quick advice for "b"

Oh how frustrating to be so far away from the misbehavior. Good luck with the niece or nephew on the way.

Sorry to hear about Capote's marking I know how embarrassed you must feel - I've experienced that awful feeling too!

I suspect he is marking because he is at another dog's house - trying to cover up the beagle's scent. My dogs will NEVER mark in their own house - it is THEIR territory. They WILL mark in another dog's house though, especially to cover up any residual pee accidents (that may have been cleaned well enough for human standards, but not dog standards!). And they do not mark in another house where there are no pets - they are fine at my in-laws' place (so maybe at your other friend's house, there are no pets?)

I'd send him with a belly band for next time!

Mindy I would like to say I'm sorry but I know what is wrong with Capote, he is very upset that you did not bring him with you so he could be eating Red Sox cookies with Riley and Monte.

haha...I can't fit him under the seat anymore! Believe me..I thought about cramming him in his old pet bag..lol. But he would have been miserable for 10 hours.

The other beagle is there but it's a girl. Also, my other friend who usually watches him has a dog as well but he doesn't mark there. I honestly think it's her husband!

Mindy how big is Capote? I am getting ready to fly with my boys next month. Riley is my biggest at 14.5 lbs. he fits perfect with some extra room in the large sherpa bag.

11 lbs. When I had him in his carry on before he barely fit under the seat. Actually I put him partially out so he wasn't squished. now he can't turn around in that bag so I'd have to check him beneath the plane and I can't do that to him.

Mindy, your carry on just might be too small? Kubrick is 14.5lbs and he fits just fine under the seat when I flew to CA.

the carryon is large..and it barely fits beneath the seat. So it's bigger than a normal carryon..
