Haven't posted for awhile- chocolate puppy update

WARNING- THIS IS A VERY LONG POST.

Well, I think it's been over a month since I've posted. First I was in St. Croix for 2 weeks with no computer, came back and had 2 portraits to finish, and meantime Truffles health was not doing so well. He is my 15 and a half year old Coton. Every few months he gives me a health scare then rebounds to almost puppy status, but this time we didn't think he would. So I had a trip scheduled to see my adorable chocolate puppy during this time. I went to see her and she is so cute and spunky( she was 7 weeks old when I visited) and during the 3 hours I was there she never stopped running and playing!!! With Truffles health problems I was afraid she might be too much for him. I expressed my concerns to the breeder who was very understanding. She said to take a couple of days to decide (she already had a waiting list for the puppy if things didn't work out!!!). I came home and discussed it with Truffles specilaty vet. Although he wouldn't commit either way, he said a very young puppy COULD be very stressful and accelerate Truffles problems, so I GAVE UP my adorable puppy. So I've been too depressed to post. Of course a few days after I gave up the puppy, Truffles made his comeback!!! It's like he knew and didn't want to share me. So, I decided I would wait and get an older puppy or young adult that would not torment him so much- I remember what Mindy was like when I brought her home at 10 weeks. This all happened a couple of weeks ago. Well, a few days ago another breeder I had talked to previously, emailed me about a chocolate girl that is 6 months old. She was going to keep her to show, but decided to keep the brother instead. I flew yesterday(very bad day to fly on the east coast!!!-a whole other story)- and it was LOVE at first sight. She is so sweet and affectionate- she has covered both my husband and I with kisses. She has been gentle and respectful of Truffles, has tried to play with Mindy(who is somewhat upset with the new addition). and ,of course, has peed EVERYWHERE except where she is supposed too. In other words-a perfect Havanese. Cocotini is home!!!!!!! Yes, pictures to follow. Jocelyn

Congratulations on your new puppy!

Cocotini is an adorable name (we almost named Carlito Coco!) Where on the east coast did you have to fly to?

Congrats again,

Congratulations, Jocelyn! I think you made a really wise and compassionate decision - so glad to hear your Coton is feeling better! When you get a chance, please post some photos of both of them!

Jocelyn, it was no doubt a tough decision to make, but now that you have an older Hav, though still very much a puppy, I think it will work out. Yep, we definitely need pictures !! Congrats!!
