If we decided to take the boys camping this weekend what should I know? How do you all acommadate your fur kids while you are camping? I think we may camp sund. night and monday. I deff. don't want to leave them over night but the thought of taking them has also stopped me from saying YES we are gonna go.
When we went camping last year with Jillee we took her crate with her and when we could not watch her she would go in the crate. At night she started out sleeping in the crate but then she was in bed with us...I think she was cold so daddy cuddled with her and kept her warm. If you have a ex pen I would set it up and then that way they can play and be safe. Have fun and take lots of pics!!!
I think it also sounds like it could be fun. However, I wouldnt do it with my kids. They are so used to my husband sleeping with the fan, we forget the fan at the hotel and it is a disaster. Every noise they bark at.... ugh!
But I think if you know you can spend time watching them and exhausting them it might be a good time!
Well, I was thinking if we took their ex pen and a crate, it might work okay. We aren't going to be doing much but cooking out, swimming, and talking. We'll have a tent and one of those big screen houses so they'll have plenty of time out of the sun and in the shade and cool breeze. I just don't wanna leave them at home alone, but what if this turns into a disaster???? I'm scared.....
How far away of a drive is it, if it turns out to be a disaster. I would just be totally prepared. Think about how things will have to be different- for instance, swimming, someone has to watch the dogs, etc. Xpen is a good idea with the crate attached if they want to rest. I think it is do able
I camp at agility trials with my four all the time. Take an xpen, crate, long line leash, extra food, and whatever water they are used to drinking. Take some toys so that they can entertain themselves. If their not already on flea/tick preventative, get some as they are much more likely to enocunter ticks out in the woods. Be sure to check that whereever you are camping allows dogs.

Well we are going to camp out on a friends property right next to the lake. She doesn't mind our pups coming along. It's about 15 min. away from the house, so we could bring the boys home if we needed to for sure. Just worried they may get too hot in the day even with the shady places. Hm.......
Brooke, take them camping!! They'll love it. My girls have been camping many times. Granted we have a tent trailer, not an actual tent, but camping nonetheless. We set up an ex-pen outside of the trailer so that they can be outside with us while we are cooking, sitting around a campfire, or just enjoying the outdoors. We have a mat that we put down (like the ones people use at dog shows) to keep them as clean as possible. I bring toys and chewies for them. They sleep in the tent trailer with us. I do bring more stuff for the dogs than for us but we love camping with them.
Thanks Susan. I think we've decided to take them along and if they aren't doing very good we are going to bring them home and check on them. I really wish we had a doggie door to outside at the house, but then I'd be a nervous wreck that someone would take them or they'd dig out from under the privacy fence. YAY!!!!! I am going to take LOTS of pictures!!!! I got some doggie life jackets.. they look so cute!
