FEEDING HABITS

Do your furbabies have any funny habits when they are waiting to be fed? Do they dance, wait patiently, or have some other quirky habit?

I have a ranch style home, so there is an entrance to the kitchen from the front foyer and the dining room. When Kodi and Shelby know I am preparing their food, Shelby will lay in the foyer right by the kitchen, and Kodi will lay under the dining room table. Once I put the dishes down, Kodi goes right over to eat, but Shelby waits until I walk out of the kitchen. Then she runs over to her dish to eat. And they are very good, too. Their get fed together and there has never been any fighting over the food.

Posh hides under the kitchen table too, under a bench we have at the table for our kids to sit at. She does this as soon as I go to prep her food and she comes out after we've sat down for our dinner....this is of course, when she isn't on some sort of hunger strike.

Cash used to sit right at my feet in the kitchen. lying down like a rug with two eyes peering up at me. Jasper runs and hides in the potty room when I open the freezer for their food (mind you he doesn't hide when we get ice cream for ourselves) and he stays out there until Cash finishes his meal in the kitchen. And then comes out and he is fed in the dining room behind closed doors often with a lot of coaxing. So now Cash has learned that he can get special treatment if he plays hard to get, so unless he is really hungry no more rug at my feet but he retires to his chair and waits til the food goes down and then waits to see if there will be any enticements but usually he can't stand the game and gives in and eats.

Beamer comes into the kitchen and lies on the floor watching the food prep and waits patiently.. If we take to long, or get distracted then he will let out a small whine.. lol

My two will stand patiently while I am preparing and then Roxie runs ahead and Brutus behind as I carry their dinner dishes to the eating area. Roxie beats me to the area and sits, staring up at me. I place her dish and she continues to sit and stare until I say OK and then she gobbles. Brutus does not sit until I have fed Roxie, but when he does, I set his dish. He will stare at me until I say OK and will continue to stare until I walk away and then he will eat.

Sully gets food in the morning and dances all around like he is starving. We pull his food at 8-9pm if we remember. Those are the days when he hold off eating till 7:50 at night. It's just bizarre his eating habits. Some days he will drag out his entire bowl of food mouthful by mouthful around the house. Little kibbles strewn about the floor. Pick them up, of couse then we turn around and hes back again pulling them out! He will sit on the carpet near where Logan eats because Logan "accidentally"drops food that sometimes Sully will eat. But it's a crap shoot, today he dropped a fresh chunk of burger and Sully didn't try to Hoover. He was polite and waited for me to give him some. And don't get me started on dog treats! He will only take Jerky(Bailey's K-9 Jerky), or non colored (I thought dogs were color blind) Goldfish crackers. Not the orange, red, or blue that all still taste like cheddar, noooo has to be the white/cracker colored ones. No doggie treats will this dog eat, Not even marrow bones or even the Dick Van Patton dog treats. I just gave up and said jerky it is. It's worth it, a bag lasts a looong time! What a nut!

Quincy is a kibble sorter----and he is like Sully----grab a mouthful and head onto the carpet for sorting and eating!

Pablo waits flat like an area rug as well. Then I say 'OK, go eat' and he usually waits a few seconds longer as if to make sure I REALLY mean it, I sometimes have to repeat it 3x until he takes it serious, LOL.

Maddie rings her bells (the one she uses to alert me she needs to go outside) when its close to dinner time, and she doesn't think I'm fixing her dinner fast enough. Then she lays against a kitchen cabinet and stares at me the whole time I'm fixing it. Its the same every single night.
