A First

Abby Grace is my little grand furgirl that lives next door with my daughter. She and Cicero have a love/hate relationship-- and I think you know who does the loving.

For 4 months...yes, that long...we have tried to get them to play. Abby is a Momma's lap girl 100% of the time and doesn't like any dogs. She truly is a princess -- and above that. Cicero on the other hand loves everyone and wants to play. He has chased her from the sofa to my daughter's lap and tried to give her kisses -- not going to happen! If he can he will bite the hair on her backside as she is jumping in the chair. Finally, last night as he was trying to kiss her, she nipped him on the muzzle. He looked at her like what the heck -- and licked his muzzle for a few mintues -- lots of tongue action.

When Abby came over today, Cicero just ignored her for the first time. She ran and hopped on the sofa in her favorite spot. I finally put Cicero on the sofa and he didn't even want a kiss.

I think Abby is the author of "Girls Rule" and now that she has put him in his place, Cicero doesn't want to bite her beautiful hair any longer. He is sweet and calm around her now. Do you think they 'might' become friends?

LOL! Sounds like the boundaries have finally been established and enforced. Abby The Enforcer.

If they are spending time together, I bet she'll warm up to him a bit, but they playing will happen on her terms. Gotta love those persistent boys who just want to play and love! The bossy little girls make sure those sweet little guys know exactly WHEN and HOW they can play with them.

As my vet says, they call them bitches for a reason.

The pictures are the perfect touch to the story. Thank you for sharing.

They are adorable together!!! I think you should send Abby to spend a weekend with Kathy's furgrandchild- another Yorkshire that doesn't know she isn't a havanese! She plays non stop with all the havs!

I have the regal maltese that is too good to play with the dogs but once in awhile, I think she honestly wants to play just something inside her wont let her!

Oh,poor Cicero.......the guy just wants to play! The pictures are cute! The little yorkie is adorable, but I don't know of their breed personality. I would check into that. I read about some other small breeds that are very dominate in nature,so maybe a yorkie is too? Eventually she might warm up to Cicero, but if not, she's missing out.

You wouldn't know looking at the photos that Miss Abby doesn't care for Cicero. Great shots! They are both adorable. Too bad for Cicero. He's such a sweetheart. Hopefully, she'll at least tolerate him wanting to be around her.

She's a beautiful Yorkie - maybe Cicero will have to start courting her with ear licking. It worked wonders for Scout with MeMe. LOL

Awww What a great story Dale. they both have beautiful "open to anything" faces. I think they will become friends. Not sure about playing though. I have one with the play gene and one without. I truly believe Jasper and Cash love eachother and are friends. But Jasper just will not play. But they have been known to curl up on a chair together. Usually it is Cash who goes and curls up with independent Jasper. Love the Pictures.

Abby Grace does indeed look like a princess!!! And Cicero... well he just looks like he wants to play!

How old is Abby? Maybe they'll work it out as Cicero gets a little older. Or maybe they will be "almost friends" forever. They're both really cute!!!

Dale great story and even better pics! I have had a similar experience with my "niece" Jessie, also a yorkie and Posh.

My brother and his wife have a six year old princess yorkie who I think truly doesn't know she's a dog. Every time I go to visit them with Posh, or they come here, it is an extended stay as my brother is an F-16 pilot and there aren't too many bases in MN ! Posh always wants to play and Jessie just doesn't want anything to do with her, there is a lot of "bitching" going on and Posh just keeps coming back for more.

Well, this last time Jessie visited on her way to a big move to Japan, my SIL and Jessie were here for almost three weeks. After about three days they really settled into their own type of "friendship" and sometimes in her own terrier way Jessie even played, sort of, with Posh. We humans just let them work it out. My SIL and I wanted to do something fun and dog friendly so we went to a "dog party" called the Yip Yap Club. Jessie and Posh were outnumbered by six chihuahuas and I thinking they were like "what the hell?" Jessie was always keeping an eye on her cousin and each time another dog tried to play with Posh or check her out, Jessie was right there to make sure Posh was safe. It was so cute.

So, I'm sure your yorkie grandbaby won't ever play in his way, with Cicero, but will do so on her terms, in her own way. She is a doll!

Here are some pics that we forced Jessie and Posh to take together.
