Mosquitos

Was wondering if there is anything that protects dogs from mosquito bites? We were at the cottage this weekend and it looks like he got acoupl bites.. on his belly, close to his 'junk'. Should I take him to the vet for any reason? or is this just one of those facts of life?

Thanks!
Ryan

Best stuff to ward off mosquitos is Avons SKIN SO SOFT. Vet visit not necessary. If itchy use some antibiodic cream or salve.

Unless you go to see the doc when you have a couple of regular mosquito bites, I wouldn't bother taking him to the Vet However some humans (so I assume also some canines) may have a reaction to mosquito bites, so just keep an eye on him.

Now Ryan lets not refer to them/it as junk. Jewels perhaps?

I wonder if you can use something like Off? I don't know, but it might be worth asking your vet.

Is Beamer on any heartworm treatment though? Heartworms come from mosquito bites.

Has anyone used Avon's Skin So Soft on their dogs? Also, has anyone heard of using Pennyroyal?

With all the rain we have had the mosquitos here are huge! I think they are big enough to drive cars!

It is almost impossible to be outside--I put on off and they swarmed my face and bit me under the chin, and on a spot on my elbow I missed! I can't believe it! I am alittle worried with the rain/flooding we've had about heart worms and west nile. Can a dog get west nile?

I just got Sentinel Green for my guys on the weekend. I noticed that it does nothing about Ticks though. It's for fleas and ringworm/hookworm etc.

K9 Advantix is what the vet prescribed for Shadow when we took her camping w/us last year. It says it protects against mosquitoes.
