Goofball Barking Havs

What goofy thing makes your hav bark and/or growl like crazy?

Yesterday Lola and I walked by a toy store and there was, in the window at floor level, a goofy, very un-lifelike stuffed dog. Lola took one look at that thing and froze in her steps. She stared at it for a minute or two and then started leaping about and barking and growling. How goofy?! Clearly she got no reaction from the stuffed toy, no smell, and it didn't even look like a real dog. She did the same thing a few months ago when she saw a wooden duck decoy sitting on my dining room table chair.

Go figure? What makes your furbaby leap about? Mirrors???

Shelby will bark at her image in the dishwasher. Yesterday the kids came over to barbeque for DH. At one point Shelby was inside and some of us were out on the deck. I heard her barking and went to see what was wrong. She was barking at our reflections in the door. Too funny!

Kodi barks ar squirrels, kids on skateboards, the usual stuff.

Benji and Lizzie bark at animals and or humans on TV including cartoons, animated human characters, anything that appears threatening (people wearing hoodies espeically). The funny thing is that they can spot them in FF mode even at the high speed FF!!

Cash barks and growls at himself in the night time windows...LOL and of course they both bark at chipmunks and squirrels that dare come close to the house.

The funniest thing was Jasper, like your stuffed dog... Ok, I need to explain a bit.... My DH is a painter and he recently just finished a painting of an german shepherd growling and baring his teeth (picture kent state or selma alabama) at Micky Mouse who has his hand out to the dog like the Pope might. The whole painting is in black in white, except Micky. OK that is the back story-- So DH brings the painting up from his studio and leans it against the wall... Jasper looks at it, just the dog mind you, and huffs...inches forward and growls and backs up and looks at it anxiously...forward again, backs up growling...this little dance goes on for minutes until I touch the painting... It was the funniest thing.

The other time he did this he was a young puppy and we were watching 8 Below (alaskan sled dog film) And when the dogs were all lined up and started racing towards the camera barking, and the music was swelling--- jasper ran for cover under the coffee table barking and growling at the TV.

He also swooned over Katherine MacFee of Idol fame. Every time she would come on that season he would just stop what ever he was doing and, sit right below the TV and look up at her.

Missy, Kodi loves that movie, especially the last 20 mins. He'll watch it every time.

Lincoln went nuts when he saw a watermelon for the first time as a pup

Now, they both go nuts when they see this Welsh Corgi being walked by our house.

And the neighbor's cat, who will stroll by their window, and sun himself in the yard...grrr....

Dora makes cute giggle sounds. She only barks when she is being crazy guard dog or chasing animals. But you tell her quiet and she stops. Dash on the other hand (Kathy warned me!) is just like his mama and always has something to say. Pairing him up with Isabelle is just a full out barkfest. Dasher has such a big dog park as well so it sounds so funny to have him barking with Isabelle's high pitch squeak! He really gets barking with her and when he wants to play and you ignore him, you hear it! He just knows he is adorable and he has very important things to say!

Guapo's "best friend" is a stuffed dachshund, which was actually bought to keep the draft and bugs out of our apartment. He LOVES this stuffed doorstop. He plays with it, beats it up, barks at it, wrestles with it (as much as he can since it still weighs more than he does)...it cracks me up! Alan thinks he obsessed with it and takes it away from time to time...I think it's nice for him to have a friend we don't have to care for

barking at night

Riki barks at anything that moves at night...a bag flowing in the wind, a ruffling tree branch! He cracks me up.

He also barks at people carrying chairs or pushing strollers, holding something very big or people in big hats! He quiets down right away though.

He also barks at untrained dogs. I know they are untrained or he wouldn't be barking at them. He has this sixth sense about that.

We also have a neighborhood skunk and I am trying to teach them not to bark at that or we will be covered in stink!

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!
