Unhappy Beamer and Pee

Everytime lately when Beamer uses his pee pad, he is stepping in it with one paw right after he goes. Beamer does not lift his left, but stretches out and pee's. So once he is done he moves forward slightly and one of his back legs always goes in it.

He only uses the pads when we are home and never uses them when he is home alone. (he's a good boy and wits for us to be hom)

So, what can I do but to monitor him while hes peeing and wipe his back paw off everytime? Is there anyway to stop this? lol

Is it possible for Beamer to go out? Can you teach him to ring a bell when he is ready?

When Brando pees on his pad it's a 50/50 shot if he steps on it after finishing. The problem is because they are squating. Once they finish they get out of the squat by bringing their rear paws forward. Not much you can do about it. I usually find Brando steps again on the pad on a dry spot so it takes most of the pee off his paw. Now you know why he clean my floors so often lol

My boys don't use pads anymore - they just pee outside. And they still manage to step into it with one back foot almost every time.

I'm not sure there is much you can do about this one!

Maybe use a baby-wipe on that one foot when Beamer is done?

Cheryl,

Yeah, I have thought about trying out the bells.. Beamer is really good at letting us know when he needs to go out. BUT, if he is busy doing something and wants to pee quickly he will just go over to the pad. It just happend before I posted this. He was chewing on a RMB and quickly ran off to pee and was back to the bone within seconds. If he bugged me to take him out he knows it would be awhile till he could get back to his bone.. so thats the problem.. lol

Daniel,

Yeah, Beamer also steps on the pad once with his pee paw, so some goes on the pad.. but i always get him right after to wipe off the paw, and its still soaked.. sooooo.. maybe u need to clean your floors even more

Do you plan to have him only go outside to pee eventually? If not, maybe Wizdog is a good investment. I got 2 one for each floor of the house. It's so much cleaner now, since he used to track his pee all over the place. You can put pee pads or newspaper in it.

I think it's $40 online. You can order it from the Wizdog site and it comes with an ebook. Though there is shipping. There's also Ugodog that my brother got. It's the same price. Just not as pretty IMHO. And it's a little bit smaller.

Good luck
