Yay Riley!!

Just an update on my little man....

Riley has learned to lift his leg! He did it for the first time yesterday. (I didn't know whether to cry or cheer! LOL) I always heard it was a learned response but he hasn't been hanging around any "lifters"...so I guess he just figured it out himself. Gooood boy!

Now stay away from my furniture legs!

Jean, Riley and Zeus!

Congratulations Riley! You da man!!!

I didn't realize it was a learned behavior. I had a male springer spaniel and a female golden retriever and the male never did lift his leg. He was a little younger and more submissive than the GR, so I guess that makes sense.

I think this is the first time we have had someone celebrate their boy lifting his leg, most worry about it LOL I have one who squats and one who kind of lifts his leg, no marking or hiking just has to lift it off the ground a little.

Tucker has begun to lift his leg of the ground a tiny bit as Leann described it. He'll be 16 wks old tomorrow.

Unlike you my fear is he will begin to hike it - I actually WANT a squatter, lol!

You are a brave woman to be celebrating that! haha!
Jester was a squatter until just a couple months ago. (he is 21 months old) He will still squat most of the time.....but he thinks good places to lift his leg are my kitchen table legs and the couch!!!

LOL! Every time we take Guapo out I'm looking for signs of lifting...none yet, but I'm trying not to let him get any ideas from the other dogs in our neighborhood

I was hoping for squatters too. No such luck -- at least with Milo. I'm hoping if I have Bailey neutered earlier that he won't lift his leg. It's just easier to pick it up from one area (the floor) than everywhere.

Just Milo and me, and . . . Bailey makes three . . . until Ruby said, "hey, what about me?"

I don't know which is better or worse. My big German Shep was a squatter. My little Kodi has been a leg lifter sine he was 5 months old. He was neutered at 6 mos. Shelby does her little girl leg lift - squats and then lifts one leg a little. She marks just as much as Kodi when we go for our walks.
