fireworks and Moxie

Any advice on the 4th of July and how to handle fireworks? I was going to take Moxie with us tomorrow night, not too close to the fireworks, but at a distance. Is this a mistake?

It might be. She might be scared out of her mind... a lot of dogs are scared of fireworks, so I would keep that in mind. If you do take her, make sure that you can leave if she is freaking out. Here's a thread on fireworks:

Tonight at Dasher's puppy class, they heavily reminded everyone to leave their dog in the house and do not let you dog outside after dark cause they can get very spooked out. Belle always hides under the couch, and Dora acts like normal, but this will be Dasher's first fireworks so I will keep an eye on him.

My dogwalker reminded me that if I take Lola outside this weekend to be sure her collar and leash are secure, because they can get freaked out and bolt for cover. And you never know when some creep is going to drop a firecracker on the street just to jolt people and their pups. Our local dog paper recommended keeping dogs indoors for fireworks.

We did a few fireworks last night (and so did some people in our 'hood) and I held Gucci and comforted her, she was acting MUCH better than she has in previous years, I just stayed really REALLY calm and reassured her that it was 'okay', she got a little skeeved after about 5 min. and wanted to go back in the house, so I took her in and she ran right upstairs TO BED. lol

She has never gone to bed w/o me before, that was a first. She managed to stay there for about 10 minutes and then she came looking for me to bitch, whimper and whine for Mama to come to bed. Sooo cute. We have guests here this week and they love her, and of course can't believe she nags me to come to bed. What dog does that, right?
