What pet gate do you use?

I can't find a pet gate with the bars spaced closely together! Daisy is 14 weeks old and she can walk throught the bars on the gate we bought for our grandson. The spacing is about 2.5" between bars. I've been hauling the ex-pen from the sunroom to the office but would like to get some more permanent gates in place. Daisy is very "athletic" and jumps at the ex-pen. Her head pops up above a 24" ex-pen! And I'm afraid she'll figure out how to climb the wire ex-pen.

I don't want to get the plastic mesh style gates because my sister had a puppy climb over that style. And I don't want to get a retractable gate because she would not be happy if she couldn't see out.

Daisy stays with us in the office during the day - but we confine her to the sun-room (with a puupy grass box) when we go out. Or - For "Time Out" when she gets "bitey" and won't calm down...

I know Daisy will be bigger and the gate I have will work for her - but we do want to add a puppy next year and I'll face the same problem all over again. Does anyone know a brand of gates with 1-1.5" bar spacing?

had same issue when my dog was a puppy. we'd come home and he was someplace he shouldn't be because he got out. we used the traditional baby gates, the ones with the mesh until he was a bit bigger for the other gates. i've heard you can put a tray up against the baby gate so that as he tries to move his body over and up it, the tray slides off and the noise is enough to scare him to never want to do it agian. i remember one time the gate was in the kitchen up against the cabinet and it slid and hit the ground, the noise was enough to scare our pup that every time we pulled it out to confine him to the kitchen, he would run!

We have Evenflow baby retractable gates that fold like an accordian. I wanted to post a picture for you. We bought them at Walmart but the model that I have, doesn't seem to show up on their website. I searched on the Internet too but I can't find the picture. I find the gates are safe and puppies can't get through or climb.

Best, Poornima

Here is the gate that we use and it holds our 8 week old puppies.
I like it too because it is a walk through and you don't have to attach anything to your walls

It is called
One Touch Pet Gates
Premium-quality gate contains pets and offers a decorator look. Swings open with one-touch for easy pass-through access. Features a durable metal frame with an attractive wooden door and a vertical slat design with 1 3/4" spacing between slats. Includes two single-slat extensions and one two-slat extension. Spring-loaded pull latch on door offers one-handed operation. Pressure-mounted gate installs quickly without hardware or tools.

We have the exact gate as Heather.
It works really well and people always comment on how nice it looks.
I think I ordered it on line from Petsmart.

Wide Opening

I forgot to mention - the opening into the sunroom is 72" wide. The One-touch gate will work for the office doorway. I'll have to keep looking for the sunroom.

Thanks so much for the replies and suggestions. I love the way everyone attached the photos - very helpful!

ooooh 72 is a tall order. I use the North State Industries Pet Gate 5 and it's a wonderful gate. I have it in a double wide opening 60". http://www.northstatesind.com/petgat...main_frame.htm

I did a Google search for "72" Pet gate" and a bunch of stff came up like this:
http://www.improvementscatalog.com/h...pet-gates.html even thought that one is actually 71"

and this:http://www.dog-gates.com/dog_safety_gate_comparo.html

We use a Kidco in and out of the dogroom since having one of the nice wooden ones chewed up.
