BLACK VS WHITE....

Looking for experienced voices here...

today was bath, grooming day....

As most of you know...I have an all black fur baby and a black and white one...

I notice on my boys that the black hair is SOOOOOOO much easier to take care of...Ollie is hardly EVER matted and Austins matts(which can be many) are ONLY in his white part of of his coat......

Anyone have feedback on that or am I crazy???

BTW....Ollie turned 2 last week...Austin is now 1.5...

And austins solid black hair (where it all black) is becoming gray!!! ooops wait that proper term is silver.....(at least thats what my DH says it is!, matches HIS HAIR!!!)

IT IS amazingling BEAUTIFUL THO!!!

My girl Martha is a black & white and her black is much, much nicer than her white hairs. The white hairs will even break off with a bad product used on it whereas the black holds strong. I recently got to watch a friend's Hav that is a black & white parti, and his hair is the EXACT opposite! His black hairs break off and his white is much nicer.

I have a puppy here (McIntosh) that has VERY different black hair than white. I haven't noticed the difference on a puppy before, but his is so obviously different that you can see it without even having it pointed out.

No, you're not crazy. I have noticed it on quite a few dogs that have two different colors in their coat.

And then, there's Piaget, who has no difference in the two colors of his black & white. Go figure.

Bugsy used to mat a lot when he was younger, but now that he is two I don't have any problems with matting (knock on wood). I do brush him daily, because he is in longer coat and because he plays so much and so rough with my poodles.

Austin's Mom, Bandit, was the same way Catherine except her black stayed black. The black was a piece of cake to take care of and the white was a pia. Now that she's older it's a lot easier care and she only needs to be brushed every couple of weeks. When did he start going silver? Send pictures please! Missy from that litter has stayed black.....but with these guys you never know. LOL heads up Leslie, you may wind up with a silver hav. I can imagine her reaction to that

Well, she does have about 8-10 white hairs in various places on her back and head. Maybe it's a start!?

I have noticed that with Jillee that her white hairs matte alot easier and the black areas don't. Betzie is only six months so not sure with her yet.

Well Brando is mostly black and his hair hardly ever matts. Bogart who is black and white did matt frequently. Hence now he is in a permanent puppy cut.

Btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OLLIE !! Ricky's b'day is tomorrow.

This sounds exactly like Ricky. He's been getting more and more white hairs on his body and head and he was a solid black too. You can't see it in photos, but in person, he looks like he's graying too (er... I mean 'silvering' lol), just like Ollie. I also love it. It's fascinating!

Ricky has two types of black hair, though. His head and back of neck/shoulders is silky and wavy. The hair about 1/3 down his back to his tail is coarser, drier and crimped. Funny how these guys keep us guessing!

Sammy is b&w and his white hair is softer, silkier and easier to care for than his black. Who knew??
