My groomer, Jen
, is a blessing! She was thrilled to get another Havanese to groom and was very familiar with the breed standard for grooming. She was the first one to put Sophie in braids, and never has a problem getting out all her matts. Earlier in June we went on vacation for a week so Sophie stayed at her Chilapso buddy's house. Sophie was then 10 months old and still blowing her puppy coat. Dawn has all carpeting in her house and Sophie and Baby love to wrestle and chase. All the rubbing on the carpet gave Sophie HUGE matts all along both sides of her body. After I picked her up I called Jen to get her in for an emergency de-matt. I was afraid she was going to have to shave her down, but she got all the matting out!
I then joked to Jen that I was going to go broke if I had to bring her in every other week. Jen said the matting would lighten up as Sophie gets out of puppyhood and encouraged me to keep up with the brushing and combing. I then asked her if she could teach me some of her de-matting tricks.
She smiled and said she had a proposition for me. She asked me if I would allow Sophie to come to Paragon School of Grooming
to be filmed for a de-matting/grooming video they are producing. She said Sophie is always so well behaved while being groomed (huh, not for me!) and because she is a sable, would shoot better than a white or black hav. Of course I said SURE!!!!
This past Saturday and Sunday, Sophie was was at the school for 10 hrs. each day. Filming is a hurry-up and wait process for sure! I was told they used her for more than the de-matting instructional. She was a little social butterfly with all various humans and dogs they had assembled for the shoot, and they all loved her! I got a free grooming out of the deal and will be getting a free copy of the video. Will let you all know when it's out!
