Merrick Turducken Ingredients

I am trying a new kibble for Lincoln right now, and just thought I'd share that the Merrick Turducken dry kibble ingredients are slightly mislabeled. It says "Potatoes" but it turns out that it is really "Sweet Potatoes".

Probably this is not important to anyone but me, but in the spirit of the Forum, I thought I'd share this info.

My son noticed that on one part of the bag it said that Turducken contains "Healthy Veggies" like Sweet Potatoes, but the Ingredient list only says "Potatoes". The canned version of Turducken has Sweet Potatoes. So I emailed the company and they checked it out and confirmed that both the wet and dry versions include Sweet Potato.

Interesting!

As the name suggests, does it really have all three proteins in it: Turkey, Duck & Chicken?

As a foodie follower, Turducken caught my eye.

Thank you Jane. Truthful labeling is very important.

"Organic Chicken, Oatmeal, Barley, Turkey meal, Duck" are the first 5 ingredients in the Turducken. I didn't get it though, since the discrepancy on the label bothered me re: sweet potatoes.

I did get the Grammy's Pot Pie instead. Lincoln seems to like it - but he likes most foods (although he didn't like Adult Innova when he was a puppy). It smells good to me (I always do a kibble whiff test). I like that the pieces of kibble are a smaller size too.

I am wondering if he is possibly sensitive to Tomato Pomace, so I was looking for a food that didn't have that or Tomatoes.

Scout will finish the leftover Solid Gold Hund-N-Flocken, since I have a 15 lb bag of that in my garage!

Inaccurate labeling would bother me too, especially since you are being so diligent about seeking out the sources of what is bothering Lincoln.

I'm glad you posted this Jane. I think all companies should be just as diligent as we all are!

Jane, That would be extremely upsetting had you tried it for Lincoln and reactivated his itching and sores! Accurate labeling is very important to me.

I would be concerned too. Benji is allergic to grains and so anything mislabled would mean a health risk. Thanks Jane for sharing the info.

Good catch, Jane. I have been using the Grammy's Pot Pie puppy kibble for Jackson and he is doing really well on it. I also use some of the canned Merrick's to put a little wet on top at dinner. I think the Mediterranean one is the one I have now. As a note, I went to the Merrick site a couple months ago and they had a great coupon where I could buy one bag, get one free. I think they will periodically send coupons by e-mail too.

Thanks for the tip! I will check for coupons too. I'm glad to hear Jackson is doing well on Grammy's Pot Pie! Are you also adding water to make the gravy, or feeding it dry? I'm not sure what I'll do - right now we're still transitioning from the old kibble (if I add water, it'll make a yucky mush out of the other kibble).

And thanks, Kimberly, Sally, Julie and Christy for your encouragement - sometimes I feel like I'm crazy-picky about this dog food thing!
