How to feed a 3-meals-a-day eater while visiting free feeders

Hello,

I am taking Momo on a road trip to meet my brother's Havaneses. We'll be there for about 5 days. They are free feeders while Momo gets fed 3 times a day. We are trying to figure out how to prevent Momo from eating all their food, but we haven't been able to figure out anything. Also, they eat different kinds of food (Canidae for his dogs, Verus for Momo) and I know it's not good for any of them to eat more than a couple bites of new food at a time.

What should we do?

P.S. Just wanted to post some pics

First I have to say I'm in love with Momo. As for your problem, it's one I live with every day. The three older ones eat one food (actually two) and Bailey gets his Bil-Jac puppy. Problem is, everyone seems to love his and they all try to get it. He then goes after theirs. I do the best I can but after awhile it's every dog for him/herself.

They all seem to be healthy (poo poo poo) so I can't make myself crazy.

Just Milo and me, and . . . Bailey makes three . . . until Ruby said, "hey, what about me?"

I can't help with the feeding issue, but I have to say that your puppy is gorgeous.
I love the photo next to the Potted plant.

Have fun on your road trip.

I have no advice for you, but I can understand your concern. I just wanted to add that Momo is beautiful!

Well, someone is going to have to be willing to make sacrifices while you are there. Hopefully he would be willing to pick up the food for the few days that you are visiting. I would suggest getting an x-pen for while you are there~ If you are flying maybe your brother can pick one up for you. You can feed Momo in his x-pen 3 times a day. But this doesn't solve the problem of your brother free-feeding his crew. Maybe he can put his dogs and their food in another room to eat, or feed them while Momo is eating in his pen?
It's going to be a huge adjustment for everyone~!
And 2 of my dogs recently had bladder stone removal surgery and another had bladder crystals while eating Canidae.....I wouldn't let Momo get into their food!
He is adorable by the way!!

Oh my goodness, isn't he adorable? Have you thought about maybe crate feeding and then using a child gate or something to wall off the other dog's free feeding? Maybe you can train your brother to just feed 2X a day? (it's really better for most dogs).

Momo is a cutie. Road trip...yeaaa...my favorite vacations! I think this will be a great time for Momo to get to play with another Hav. Hopefully, for 5 days your brother can just pick up the food dish. Hope you enjoy this trip!!

Momo is adorable!!
It is great to have other havanese in the family. You will love seeing them play together. (looking forward to seeing photos)
The food thing I wish I had some helpful ideas.
Sally
PS-What is the age span? Is Momo related to your brother's havs?

Sally,((Oliver)) Comet and Pennie too!
