mugsy ate kibble! mugsy ate kibble!

in prep for the arrival of kaylie, i bought some legacy kibble which has been her mainstay food.
i gave some to mugs as a treat and he ate it.
i put some more in his dish and he ate that too.
i put some mixed in with his dinner (evo wet) and he ate that too!!

this is a good thing. i had hoped if he watched kaylie eat it that he might also so this is beyond expectations.
can't wait to see if he will eat some for breakfast also.

speaking of kaylie, she is doing well post surgery and also had some back teeth pulled while she was out. it was supposed to be a cleaning. i hope this isn't a sign that she wasn't cared for when she was breeding for them. is it normal for a 6 year old to have teeth pulled?

Joe, that's great Mugsy ate kibble. As to Kaylie's teeth - sometimes people don't keep them up and you'll have decay. Certain breeds can be more prone to bad teeth like Poms but I don't know about Havanese.

Joe:

Glad to read Mugsy ate the kibble-now when the darling lady comes they will be on the same food-easier on the pocketbook for sure.

About the teeth-they may just not have kept up on the dental care-if they had a few dogs that could be why-but once she is home with you that will change I am sure.

Can't wait to see the Lady & Mugsy together in a family photo

Hooray Mugsy. He's getting ready for his new sister already and he doesn't even know it. I wouldn't worry too much about the teeth. Sometimes even with good dental care there can be problems. Our vet told us that sometimes genetics just says that a certain dog is prone to dental problems. As long as Kaylie's remaining teeth are healthy and she can eat and drink, no problems, right.

she got a clean bill of health from their vet so i'm not too worried.

at this point i am getting anxious with the wait and maybe focusing too much on the little details.
with mugsy, the breeder was a poor communicator and i was too much of a rookie to ask all that many questions. out of the 3 available pups, mugs was the most laid back and i just fell for him.
i had intended to get the black and white pup that was also available but it was mugs that made me laugh from the beginning.

Joe, I bet you are so excited!! It seems like Mugsy is excited too, he is getting ready for dinner and breakfast time with his new sister!!

When I took in my foster Gigi in April, she had three teeth pulled, and was fine. It certainly did not stop her from eating!! I think that they handle these things easily.

What is the expected date of her arrival?
