A splendid vacation

I thought I would share some of the fun photos from North Fork LI. DH and I and the boys give it an 8 paws up. It really felt like we got away from New England and yet it was pretty close. It felt like a combination of the less commercial parts of Cape Cod, Provence France, and Sonoma. we had fun going to the wineries and the boys loved the beach. The photos really don't do it justice.

1) The boys in the back seat of the car as we head off (taken from my iphone)
2) the road to our house
3) the garden behind our house
4) Cash in the bay steps from our house
5) Cash the retriever

Missy, those are great pictures! It looks like the boys had a wonderful trip. You will have to tell me more about where you went. Perhaps we will look into it for next year.

Looks like a great time! Guapo enjoyed the vineyards on the north fork a few weeks ago too!

Wow, looks like they had an amazing time. I really want to take my guys somewhere where they can swim. They never have been near a body of water...well except my belly after a couple of beers lol

Lisa, it was so relaxing!!! my mother was in good hands, we didn't feel like we had to see anything special, we just hung out on the beach and when we were done with that, we went wine tasting, or out to dinner.

Alan, Michelle, where do you go in Northfork? We are white wine drinkers and out favorite was Paumonak and the Shinn Esate.

We drove around the hamptons too... I'll stay on the north fork.

Karen, I will pm you the details.... I want to buy a vacation home there!!! I just need to win the lottery!

We LOVE Shinn, the wine, the completely sustainable farm, and the owners are wonderful! They're also really great chefs. If you ever get a chance stay in the farmhouse and have a meal with them. I'm not sure I know Paumonak, but we like Bridge (doesn't have its own tasting room), Leib, Lenz, Jamesport (the wine's ok, but the live music during the day makes it great for picinicing)...I'm sure there are others that I can't think of right now, but I will look in the wine fridge later since I know we brought a few bottles home
