Big thank you to Melissa from HRI

HRI asked me to forward this to the Forum:

Since the 2008 Calendar is not available for purchase anymore (I checked) I have moved the information about it from the "shopping" area of the website, to the Hero Donations section, along with a thank you to Melissa. http://tinyurl.com/57eotb

And a link to her wonderful photography website.

We of HRI are so excited with the funds raised by this project...and how many dogs we will now be able to help.

From the HRI page:
A HUGE THANK YOU to Melissa Miller

http://www.melissamillerphotography....ndex2.php?v=v2

Melissa donated the amazing total of $3,700.00
from the sale of the 2008 Calendar to Havanese Rescue Inc

Melissa's generosity will help many Havanese in need!

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

link on HRI website...

The world of Havanese owners is populated with very talented and generous individuals. One of them, Melissa Miller, has offered to share her amazing gift of photography with HRI through a beautiful and all together charming Havanese calendar. The photos of Havanese in this calendar were submitted by members of the Havanese Forum and Havanese Rescue Inc.

Havanese through the seasons romp in the snow or gaze mischievously from their favorite spots around their yards or homes. The love for these dogs is evident not only from each photographer that submitted the photos, but also in the editing and placement of the photos themselves. A special two page spread featuring only dogs from rescue can be kept as a poster.

ALL the proceeds from this calendar will go to Havanese rescue. Calendars sold to Canadian individuals will benefit Canadian Havanese Rescue. All calendars sold to U.S. individuals will benefit HRI.

Thank you, Melissa, for sharing your love for this breed in many ways. Your talent will grace our walls while the funds raised will give Havanese in rescue much needed support.

I didn't just get havanese, I got a lifestyle!

and how the HRI Quilt will also help!

The Quilt behind the Quilts

Havanese Rescue Inc.

There's a Quilt "behind" the three beautiful quilts offered this year.
It's not as pretty as the quilts you can win, but it "covers" a lot of dogs.
When you donate to the quilt project by entering the drawing to win
the beautiful Carousel Quilt, Forum Quilt or Havanese Delight quilted
wall hanging, this is where your funds go.

Just who was Sue Nelson?

Sue Nelson had her first havanese over 17 years ago. She became a major mentor to other havanese owners and was very involved in the early stages of the breed in California. Sue advocated health above everything else in our breed...and she believed in training and doing it well.

Sue entertained many, educated huge numbers, and was dedicated to the betterment of our breed. She was loved by many as her contribution to the havanese world was as immense as her heart.

Sue passed away last December...a huge loss to our community.

The photo shows Sue on the left talking to a little girl about caring for a havanese at the Pet Expo which she organized and attended for many years.
The 2008 HRI Quilt is dedicated to this wonderful woman.

The Calendar

Out of curiosity, I noticed that it says send in a photo. Are all photos of havanese considered for next year's calendar? Is there a particular theme? I wish I had Melissa's talent, but I do have cute dogs!
