Talking TOOTHBRUSH OR DENTAL PADS???

What do you use to clean your dog's teeth?

I have found a toothbrush to be awkward. I have used dental wipes which I think is easier but wonder if it is as effective as a toothbrush & dog toothpaste? I have only found dental wipes at Foster & Smith. Is there another place to look? Also, the dogs clamp their teeth so have been unsucessful in getting the teeth underneath.

Someone at a Healthy Pet Store said that WYSONG DENTAL TREATS was very effective and so I am sprinkling that on their food a couple of times a week.

I would love to hear what you use and what is effective.

I bought toothbrushes recently, but haven't tried them yet. My vet told me to just use n 2x2 gauze pad and scrub the teeth. It works, too.

I haven't tried the pads. I use the toothpaste and a finger toothbrush or even just my finger to apply it. My vet says it doesn't need to be brushed in, that there is an enzyme in the toothpaste that dissolves on the teeth when applied. I have seen the dental wipes at Target, though,in the pet section.

I use a brush for Stella. She's not fond of it, but she tolerates every morning. I think it's just because she likes the poultry flavored toothpaste. The toothbrush I have is shaped rather different. Here is a picture of it.

It works fairly well and I'm happy with it.

I use those interdental cleaners about 2X a week (the soft ones):

On a daily basis, I just apply the Petzlife with my finger, but with use the interdental thing every 3-4 days to make sure her teeth are clean, and then every 2 weeks or so I'll use the dental pic, to get the plaque off her two back teeth that seem to attract plaque, it is always the same two back teeth. Sometimes the interdental brush can get it off, or it can get stuff that is stuck in between the teeth, she'll occasionally get grass in her teeth!
