Question Crazy Question.....

I do my own grooming/ clipping of Tika a couple times a year. I am a novice to be sure but learning and saving lots of money. Anyway......
Whenever I clip Tika I think it is such a shame to throw her hair away. She is so soft and it is really quite luxurious. so here is my question..........
Has anyone ever thought about collecting enough Havanese hair, carding it, having it spun into yarn and make a sweater or throw/ lap blanket out of it?
If they can spin wool, angora, etc. Why not havanese yarn? I think it would be so soft.
maybe everyone could send their contributions to someone who knows how to make yarn, experiment and make something and auction it off then give the proceeds to the havanese rescue. If I knew how to do it I would but i am clueless about this type of thing.

Actually, you aren't crazy. In my former breed, Keeshonden, many people collected the hair (they've got lots but aren't clipped ever) and had it spun into yarns, etc. If you are really interested, I could go through my deleted emails and find a link for you if you can't google and find something.

I posted about this before. It was a lady that did it with her Lhasa Apso's hair. However, it took the dog's entire lifetime to get enough hair to make enough yarn for a sweater. Here's a picture of the yarn (made with silk).

Thank you. It was impossible not to fall in love with a face like that.

Wow, That really would be a awsome keepsake.
I guess though if enough people, who keep there dogs clipped anyway, contributed it could faster and go for a good cause.
