Changing Toenail Color???

While bathing Quincy the other day I noticed he has a toenail changing color. It is very unusual (at least to me) and I wondered if anyone else has a dog changing toe nail color? Quincy was 2 in April and seems to have very very quick growing nails. I have to cut his nails at least every 2 weeks. He has always had 1 black nail (that I'm always more afraid to cut--so it always is alittle longer then the rest) but it looks like I'm going to have 2 very dark nails now!

I found it quite difficult to photograph his nails-----so please excuse the quality

Julie, wow that's interesting! Never heard of anything like that before, though I am of course not at all an expert on dog's nails, LOL. I wish Kubrick's nails were white. SO much easier to deal with!

My Italian Greyhound had one nail on 3 of his 4 feet turn black. It started when he was about 6 yrs. old. It was a issue with nail trimming, but otherwise it just gave him a bit of character!

both my boys have both black and white nails, so not sure I would even notice if one started to change. But these guys change their hair color and I have heard of noses changing too, so it wouldn't surprise me.

All of Quincy's have always been white and easy to care for, except that one black one. I guess I noticed because it actually really looks super cool as it comes down into a V shape.

It does look cool. Yes I have heard of light nails getting darker. The light one are sure alot easier to clip.

Giotto's nails have changed color. All his nails were white/clear when we got him and now all but two are black. I figured this was a normal thing, though it does make nail clipping more of a challenge.

Lexi has always had black nails, white nails and black&white nails. They are mixed on every foot, no rhyme or reason. I think it is part of her charm!

Julie, that is wild. Cicero has all black nails and yes, I hate to clip them. He is really good about letting me file them down.

Well that is something. My black and white parti has toe nails that are half balck and half white, split down the middle. I didnt know they could change color midway like that.
