Henry has an ear infection

hi, Henry has an ear infection. Most likely occuring during a grooming appt. It is a combination of yeast and bacteria.
The vet gave me a cleanser & medication to drop into his ear once a day.

Henry is mighty feisty, first catching him or luring him to me then doing the medication . . . .sometimes treats sometimes not.

Anyway when I brought him back the other day for a check, the vet said it was in there pretty deep and they would probably have to do the ear wash there.

Sedation would be necessary because he gets pretty annoyed with them poking in his ear. Otherwise he's quite popular and happy to see everyone there.

Anyway, just thought I would keep you updated on Henry. Anyone experience anything similar?
Also, if he is sedated, I will have them clean his teeth too.

I'm sorry to hear Henry has an ear infection! Is that common for them to have yeast and bacteria? I have sympathy for you. I know my guys don't like getting drops in their ears either especially Shamouti.

I'm curious as to how old Henry is? Rufus is 16 months and even though I brush his teeth, I've noticed some tarter on some of his teeth. I'm trying the Petzlife gel to see if I can avoid the doggy dentist.

Poor Henry. I know how miserable they can be with ear infections. These two never had one, but my other dog and my cat had them. Hope he is better soon.

Bless his heart. I've had ear infections...and they are painful. I don't know but I would think an ear infection is also painful for our pets. Hope he is better soon.

Scooter has had them and had yeast infections. We had to clean his ears and then about an hour later put drops in. He was very good and would just lie there while we did it. He has lots of hair in his ears and the vet showed us how to remove it, the groomer does it as well but he doesn't go that often. She also told us to be very careful about drying his ears after we bathe him at home, and to watch while bathing so we don't get water in his ears. We're trying to be vigilant in keeping his ears clean and dry so they don't reoccur. The first time he had to have oral antibiotics too and I was so sad giving him so much medicine. I guess the only good thing to come of it is that he lets us rub his ears a lot and doesn't mind.
I hope Henry feels better soon!!!

Hope Henry feels better soon! and happy early B-day in case I forget. I hate it when things happen at the groomers, who you are paying to care for your pet not get them sick!! My boys came back from the last grooming with all sorts of weird hot spots not to mention the weird trim.

Funny I should happen upon this thread. Gryff has been shaking his head and scratching at his ear. I've put cleaner in his ears but I can't tell if it's helped. He was shaking and scratching about 3 days ago, then nothing until this afternoon. He was doing it for about 20 minutes before I put the cleaner in and then he stopped and hasn't done it since. I can't tell if it's anything serious. I guess I'll keep an eye on it and call the vet if it seems to get worse.

I'm glad Henry is doing better.
