djangos sick!

well we're on a week and a half, 7 visits to the vet. django has thrown up on occassion, has diarreah, won't eat, very very low energy, i've beeen feeding him boiled chicken and rice. he's lost a pound and a half in 10 days. anyways, we just went to a new vet who did blood work on him to check for a liver shunt. is anyone out there expeirence GI problems with your dog? i'm at a loss here and don't know what to do next

Littlebuddy, I'm so sorry to hear about Django still being sick. I certainly hope they can get to the bottom of the problem quickly. A 1.5 pound weight loss on a small dog is significant.
Hugs and get well thoughts coming his way.

Susan

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. Is there any blood in the stool? If so have your vet check for HCG (or HGC - I always forget the initials).

Is this the first blood work that has been done? Do you know if they did pre and post meal bile acids, as well as a basic chemistry panel? How big was Django? How old?
The symptoms you describe could be several things, but hopefully the blood work will rule out a lot of them.

When you say Django will not eat, does eat anything? Treats? Drink water?

Hugs to you. We are thinking of you and sending get well thoughts to Django!

I'm so sorry! We are sending well wishes his way!

I only had the one occasion where Gucci was sick for a few days, wouldn't eat, drink, very 'out of it', but then she snapped back out of it almost as soon as she fell sick. The vet did give her antibiotics, so I don't know if that helped.

What did the vet say?

Giving her sips of pedialyte really seemed to help.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about Django. I hope you and your vet can figure out what is going on and that he'll be better soon!
