So sorry to hear - I'm sure this is got to be stressing you out. The pre is high, but not through the roof. Post is definitely an indicator that something could be array. Has he been on a series of antibiotics to see if that could help lower numbers before surgery? Have they done an ultrasound on the liver or a cintography (sp??)?

Let me know if you need someone to talk to since Grace has had similar issues.

no, no ultra sound or cintograph yet, however, that's the plan. my husband and i have decided to put off surgery until we know 100% certain that it's a liver shunt. we've been reading alot on this issue, educating our selves, and we know other tests need to be done to determine what's going on first before we just jump into surgery.
we are taking him to a holistic vet friday who will hopefully help us integrate holistic methods with his current medications. i will keep you posted.

Littlebuddy, I am glad the you and hubby have been reading up on liver disease and know that it is best to have additional testing done. Has Django had other liver blood work done, such as an ALT? Do you know if it was normal? (It is sometimes done as part of a chemical panel.)

What medication is Django on?

If I remember correctly, you live in Cleveland. I am wondering if there is a liver expert at OSU Vet school.

Gracie's mom would be another good resource for you.

It looks like those medications are for diarrhea. You may want to inquire or research getting him on some liver supplements. With numbers that high, it would probably help the liver heal or help it. Regardless of the cause of the liver issues, it may be helpful. Gracie is on Liquid Hepatosupport and SAMe. I know there are others that are just as good. It may be good to get him on something like that while you are educating yourself on what steps to take.

Grace is doing great!! She was never symptomatic. Size is her only obvious "symptom". We keep her on a special diet. I'm thinking of switching to Cheryls recommendation of Solid Gold Holistique Blendz. Hopefully Django will do well also.

Today is her birthday - she is 1 year old!!!!
