About the National

This came through on the HCA list with the request to cross post it


There are quite a few that are still unpaid in terms of buffets and banquets. Please be prepared to pay your account current when you check in at the registration table to receive your name badge and goodie bag.

If you did not send a registration form to me, unfortunately, you will not have a pre-printed name tag. But, I did bring extras that have the national logo printed on it, sharpies, and badge holders that you will be able to create your own.

When you register, there will also be a sign up for the open items that I need assistance with (grounds is one example). If you are able to assist, please sign your name and room number. Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated!

I also plan to have a merchandise sheet created. We have lots of neat items this year, thanks to our merchandise chair, Karen Sako. Unfortunately, due to work, she is unable to attend. This year we will handle it a bit different. Samples will be out for you to look at, along with an order form. Please fill out the order form and turn into me. I will then fulfill the orders and give you the bag of goodies when you pay me the money. Not the ideal but it will be very workable for all parties.

Also, early last week, I was able to confirm the change from the Pavilion to the Ballroom. I needed to confirm before I told the attendees. Since I was busy with other activities last week, I notified my assistant, Liz, who then had her friend, Jennifer send out to the lists. Iím sorry that I didnít do it on my own but there was too many things that I had to get wrapped up prior to coming to Richmond. Joan Ambrose and Sue Siver began the investigating of moving back into the ballroom. When I re-visited the hotel contract for this year, back in November/December 2007, and we dropped the room counts down, we lost the ballroom as a comp space. But, in the communications was the request that if the hotel was unable to sell the ballroom space, that we could receive it as part of our comp space, 1-2 weeks in advance of the event. So, when we were 2 weeks out, I notified Joan and Sue of this possibility, Joan and Sue worked with the hotel, since she was already working with the hotel with the food events, to secure this space. Then I had to confirm it as Iím the official sign off person as the show chair.

Since the ring size is the minimum required for AKC rally/obedience, there was no need to make any floor plan changes as the ring will still be the same size (40 feet by 50 feet) in the ballroom as it was to be in the Pavilion.
