Well, we are officially living with a furry teenager
. Violet is now 8 months old and thinks the sun rises and sets on her. She has always been an insatiable flirt and master manipulator, but now she is really testing her boundaries. Can you say, "Lindsay Lohan"? She wants to be the boss. Unfortunately for her, there can only be one Queen Bee in our house and that's me. Last night she growled (no teeth) at my husband when he moved her from his side of the bed. He didn't take it to heart, but I was livid. I scolded her and she skulked away. She has been torturing Stella, chewing things, ignoring commands, etc. So, today I took a bone from her and she gave me a bit of a growl. Well, needless to say that bone was mine and she had to sit quietly while Stella enjoyed her own bone. It seems we are going to go back to basics until she straightens up.
I remember we went through a little of this with Stella at just about the same age, but I consistently reminded her that she was at the bottom of the food chain in our house, and everything worked out. In fact, now Stella is one of the easiest dogs I've ever had. I'm hoping Violet responds as well, but my gut tells me she will be a bit more challenging.
Just look at her expression in this picture. She's really full of herself right now!!!
